What a great tutorial. I have never even seen a screenshot of Visio. It sounded intimidating and your tutorial has cleared up a great deal of speculation I had. Thanks so much for this video. I just started a new position and need to add a few items to a very large org chart. Is there a quick way to make all the lines turn into arrows? Also, I had to delete a lot of lines because once I added a new box I had to move current boxes which made the lines out of sink. Can I just start dragging and dropping boxes to make them reconnect? Thanks again.

Hi There, I have been able to create an org chart from an excel spreadsheet, excellent video. I want to bring in the position number as well as the position name and the employee name. I am having problems though where i have people job sharing and they are attached to the same position. Viso identifies the records as a duplicate as the position number is shared. Visio then removes them from the org chart. Is there a way to include duplicates values?

I work in human resources and have to update our org charts monthly...fun stuff!There are about 350 employees spread out over 15 divisions. I have been updating each chart individually along with the master chart that list all employees and divisions. Is there a way that i can just update the master chart and "hide" the divisions that i do not want to include to create smaller, individual, division charts? There has to be an easier way than what i have been doing

Thanks for the video. My main question is what if in the scenario you provided there is a co-CFO and the people below the two co-CFO's report to both of them? How would we be able to do that?

Haven't tried for a while but I think after you add your box and associate it with the CFO you can add a second line. In theShapes pane at the bottom there may be two line types: a solid line "Direct Addition..." or dotted line "Dotted-line Report". Drag one of the lines so that it overlaps one of the boxes, then drag the other end of the line over the other CFO box.

your videos have been so extremely helpful. I did watch bunch of your videos on Visio. its the best out there. In this video i see how to make org charts but i mine doesn't have the plain boxes when i click on business category and org chart wizard which is what i want. it comes up with the box that had CEO or business management chart that has place to put pic in. I like the plain boxes you have. how did you get them? i have tried for hours without success. any suggestions? thanks, your the best

Hi Doug, Thanks for the helpful guide, it was a great walk through! Need help - I am using Visio 2013 and all the steps are much the same, however when I click to finish Visio gives me an error: Organization Chart Wizard Error - Invalid Data: Eliminate Duplicates in the column (field) that uniquely identifies each record. Thing is that it is telling me that my duplicates are my Titles for my people... I have a range of people doing the same role... what is the fix?

Thanks Doug - I figured it out. Error came from a simple (stupid) mistake, 1 cell on the excel sheet I was using was deleted. The knock on effect pointed visio in the wrong direction - telling it that the manager reports to the "COO's Title" rather then the actually "Person" (his name)...in turn the structure failed. Lesson learnt. Thanks again for a good vid!
