Create and Use a Lead Magnet in Squarespace [2020]

You worked hard to get traffic to your site… how are you leveraging that hard work?
The BEST way to grow your business (organically too) is to grow your list.
This simply means, you are collecting email addresses from interested people and put it in a “list.”
This list lives in your site and grows as people continue to “opt-in” and you now have direct access to those emails.
You can then email this list ANYTIME you want. With promotions or emails just to say hi, or to share more value.
A great way to grow your “list” is by offering something of value.
Some simple guidelines for this is to offer:
- something that complements the nature of your business
- something your target audience (the type of person that you want business from) will find valuable or will help them
- something that a download of a pdf, instructions, a chapter of a book, an exclusive article, white paper, or special access to a training video, the possibilities are endless!
- something that is quick and actionable, something they can do right away that provides urgency in getting it NOW, and giving up their email NOW
When this person lands on your site, sees the value in what you offer, they give up their email, your list grows, and you can continue to grow their trust in your company which helps move them towards the sale.
We not only should be providing value for our potential customers to capture their email, but also to provide genuine service because that’s why we’re here right?
This is an amazing way to grow the knowledge in you and your company so a person is more informed to buy.

Wonderful video! Thank you. I can't see why people won't just click on the "Opt-in Lead magnet" and skip giving over their email address. I tried to hide that button but it doesn't work. Got a bit confusing there. Thanks for any guidance. What would you call it really instead of "Opt-in lead Magnet?" That sounds a bit cold! :)

For anyone coming to this comment with the same question in 2024, you have to create the page with the actual pdf file under the NOT LINKED pages section, that way it doesn't show up on the navigation bar. Hope this helps!

Question, you still have the Opt-in and Lead Magnet links in your navigation bar on top...I assume these shouldn't stay here? Can you explain the step in removing these from your main site?

A great video but I keep getting a 404 page after they hit subscribe and are redirected to the download page. Is it because it needs password protecting as you cant let the public access a non visible page? Please reply as not many youtubers do!

The click able options that appear under the 'Email', bit on the right. Where you added the, 'Senders profile', is not the same as mine. Instead it says. 'Unique Recipients'?

I appreciate the video, but it went way too fast for me to follow you. I'm not Squarespace or computer savvy and I'm confused when it came to hooking up the lead magnet to Squarespace. I'm confused about the clickthrough URL. I don't have anything on 7.1 that looks like that. When I clicked my magnet file, it pulled it from my laptop. I'm not sure how to get it onto the website without it pulling from my laptop if that makes sense.

Hello, if I may make a suggestion, the way you started your video with a "what's up everybody" scream, is not you, I don't know you at all, but it did not feel like you. I feel a lot of people are using Peter McKinnan's starter, but it's is unique to him and for him it sounds good,for everyone else it does not. In your case you're a beautiful woman who doesn't strike me as agressive and that starter sounds a bit too aggressive. I suggest you find yours, you didn't need that to grab attention, in fact, when I heard it, it was so unexpected that I jumped away from my screen and wanted to turn the video off. The rest of your video sounds exactly how I thought of you (described above), stay true to yourself. Thank you for this video! 💮
