Great video! After they sign up for the freebie, what's the best way to offer an upgrade option for a fee? For example, "to get the full 20-page guide, download here for $5" or something similar. thanks!

There a few different ways to do this. You could redirect them to a page on Squarespace that advertises the offer and gives them the option to purchase. You could also tell them about it through an email funnel.

On your own website, is the newsletter / free CSS guide in the footer or is it a separate banner on each page?

It is in the Footer so that it appears on every page. I then use code to hide that part of the footer for any page I don't want it on.

Similar question to one that's been asked, but how do I send a new lead magnet subscriber through my main welcome sequence, without sending a current subscriber that downloads my lead magnet through the same welcome sequence they've already received?

This would depend on what Email Marketing System you are using. I have my Lead Magnet Automation send them the freebie. Then it checks if they have a "welcome" tag. If they do, then the automation ends. If they do not, then it adds the tag which triggers my welcome sequence. Can you only have one auto email? Seems the auto email is for a subscription confirmation.... but I want a different freebie per newsletter block... is that possible?

Hello Danika. You would have to attach each Newsletter block to a different mailing list. Then have an auto email for each mailing list. For example, you can have a mailing list for each freebie and then attach the newsletter to the freebie mailing list they are signing up for.

How does it work if I have the same person sign for different things? Lets say they're signed up for the normal simple newsletter and then want the free ebook. What happens when they put in their email there too? And if they do that - will they later get two of the same "normal" newsletter? Thank you!

When creating the Newsletter Block make sure you connect it to different mailing lists. That way when they sign up for the Free Ebook, they are put in the automation you created to send them the ebook.

Send them the Free Download through email once they subscribe. You can do this by setting up an automation or email funnel in your email system.

You can but it is fairly limiting. Another great place to get started for free is Mailer Lite. I started my email system on there and they were great.

it looks like there's no way to edit a subscriber's name in Squarespace. I just saw a long set of questions from 2020-2023 in which they said this still has not been resolved - you have to download the entire subscription list, edit them one by one, then reload the list. I was VERY much hoping to use Squarespace for my very basic email campaigns, but this looks like a deal breaker. Is there any way you know of to edit subscribers on the list?

According to Squarespace "It's not possible to edit profiles, but you can update the name associated with a profile by importing a subscriber with the same email address and a different name."
