Alex, thank you SO much for this! I have AR receivers that are produced for me under a marking variance, that carry my brand. I left the majority of the receiver open for engraving. Using the methods you clearly outline in this video I was able to take pictures and import them into AI and do the trace, and save a SVG to use with EZcad. The only thing was for me after scaling in AI it didn't seem to stay to scale, but I was able to easily scale it once it was open in EZcad. You are awesome, and very much appreciated!

Awesome story, thanks for sharing. Glad it's working out for your custom needs. Once you get the workflow down it isn't too bad!

When taking pictures of your object, it can help to get as far away from it as possible, and zoom into the object. This gives a more isometric view, which is important for some objects. A flatbed scanner can do this very nicely as well

thank you very much for your videos. Your videos are very helpfull for me as a beginner. Small advice on the second layer wich you create to draw a specific form you can choose from properties the filling colour and the stroke line. and if you choose no filling colour then you can make the contour of your object without thinking where the line will go.one more time thank you for all your videos.

@josephrogers76953 жыл бұрын
Hey you probably could save alot of time with the pen tool. To utilize it you should be able to click on the left corner of the blade and the right corner, then drag it to manipulate the angle. You can do the entire shape in only 5 anchor points rather than like 50. Click on one side, then click on the next side and drag that click till youve got it in the perfect shape. Takes some practice. Also, if I have very specific questions about marking SS to avoid any rust should I go to the discord?
@LaserEverything3 жыл бұрын
Thanks yeah, I'll do a separate video on the curve tool. This was definitely focused on beginners and as you mentioned the curve tool is a bit more of a pain in the ass but we'll definitely show it on here at some point. Definitely hit up the discord either way. Easiest place to chat ☺️

Alex - where did you get the axe? Was it customer provided? Those would be perfect for an upcoming Medieval faire.

I know nothing about laser engraving. This is the first video I see. Can Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro also show contours on the ax that you show 12:00 minutes inside the video?
@LaserEverything3 жыл бұрын
It can, but it has to trace them with the head of the laser so it's much slower and you can't see the whole shape at once.

Hey alex! I have a question my laser's two red dot light ok but the red light box out of the two red dot (it upper the two red dot when press F1 selected project light) where the setting to solve my problem :( sorry my bad english
@LaserEverything3 жыл бұрын
Go into your F3 Param and check out the Port page. The two red dots are for focusing and have nothing to do with the red outline laser. The red light port usually needs to be set to port 4 or 8, try that and see if that fixes it.

Congrats on 10k subs. Can you do a video about these higher power 2 diode compressed lasers? Specifically, I want to know why nobody us talking about pulsing them? You should be able to pulse them to really high power levels. is it a software problem? What if you use a MOPA designed driver board to drive a regular compressed violet laser?
@LaserEverything3 жыл бұрын
I think this is a topic better covered by my friend Geo over at MakrTheory, who's getting ready to start uploading videos soon. I'll mention it to him as a potential video topic.

Hi Alex, I would like to buy a 50 watt fiber laser to cut some nickel sheets. Would this be able to cut a 0.2mm nickel sheet?
@LaserEverything3 жыл бұрын
For cutting it's a brute force game. The more wattage the better. If you can afford it a 60w or 80w mopa with have a higher peak pulse output power but if you're on a budget the 50 will do fine, just a little slower.

Hi Alex and friends, maybe I’m missing something but when I trace an object in AI and and make it 129mm on X axis, then save it as a Ai8 file. Open it in EzCad2 and it shows 129mm on the X axis like it should….. however, the problem comes once I light it the object is so much smaller than the actual slide I’m working on. So then I try to resize it and all of the cutouts will not line up. Anymore. I’ve spent data trying to figure this out, not to mention the time meticulously drawing the template in the first place. Is there a setting that could be off in my ezcad program or is it something else that you can think of? I would love any help you can provide
