I’m looking to get one soon and it’s very confusing to me as well. I’ve embroidered for 15 years and used the “pulse” program so I’m familiar with the tools and toolbar it’s the settings I’m confused on. I’m the type that if I get frustrated and can’t figure it out, I usually give up

IT SEEMS THAT THIS GUY AND A COUPLE OTHER PEOPLE REALLY KNOW ABOUT LASERS AND HOW TO USE THEM IN THE CORRECT MANOR, IT SEEMS MOST PEOPLE EITHER DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT OR THERE TECHNIQUES SUCK OR DONT WORK AT ALL, I HATE THE LIARS THAT CLAIM THEY ENGRAVED A LARGE DETAILED IMAGE IN 30 MINUTES OR LESS, I WAS READING AN ARTICLE LAST NIGHT, AND THAT GUY WAS SO FULL OF IT, HE HAD A DETAILED WOLF COMING THROUGH SOME TREES ON A 6 X 11 INCH PIECE OF SLATE, AND CLAIM HE DID THE COMPLETE IMAGE IN UNDER 7 MINUTES, WITH A 7 WATT LASER, I HAVE A 20 WATT AND ITS NOT POSSIBLE TO ENGRAVE THAT FAST, I HAVE WASTED A LOT OF TIME TRYING WHAT THOSE SO CALLED EXPERTS CLAIMS WORKS, THIS GUY AND A COUPLE OF OTHER PEOPLE REALLY KNOW QUITE A BIT, I HAVE NOTICED THAT EVEN THE PEOPLE WORKING FOR LIGHTBURN LACK KNOWLEDGE OR THEY ARE COMPLETELY WRONG, AND ALL THOSE PEOPLE THAT DONT KNOW ANYTHING JUST STRESS EVERYONE OUT OR JUST GETS NEWBIES TO WANT TO QUIT BEFORE THEY EVEN START, NOW THAT I DO THINGS MY WAY, ITS NOW FUN, NOT STRESSFUL, I HAVE BEEN CREATING SOME REALLY AWESOME ENGRAVINGS, I HAVE MUCH MORE EXPERIMENTING TO DO, BUT ITS A LOT OF FUN NOW, I HAVE LEARNED WHO TO AVOID OR NOT TO WASTE MY TIME WATCHING THE TIME WASTERS, YOU JUST WASTE TIME AND MATERIALS, SETTINGS THAT THE LIARS CLAIM AND THEY DO NOT WORK EVER, THE WAY THEY CLAIM

I am a "noob" and have no actual experience. Have watched hours of youtube videos from dozens of people and I feel like Sargent Schulz from Hogan's Heroes. "I know nothing!" I have ordered one of those Chinese lasers, a Mecpow pro 3 10 w laser and am waiting for it to come in. I am an older retired guy and this is all new to me. I stumbled upon your channel and thoroughly enjoy it. I am working my way through your Light Burn videos and find that they are very well done. Your voice is well modulated and your delivery is excellent even without a script. I did join your forum but have not posted anything yet. It is not my goal to start a business so cost of materials, while a concern doesn't stop me from exploring various materials and having fun. Hopefully you will respond to this comment. I will check back later.

Rich another Great learning video, you have nuggets in your videos that I am sure many miss. I have the Longer Ray 5 10 watt laser and the spot beam is .060 compared to many others as are .080. It was during this video you showed where to make that change to reflect a greater definition in burns with fill and I have not seen this mentioned on any other video that I have noticed. I have been playing with Lightburn for the last 3-4 years and in the beginning there were few videos so it was the shot gun approach to figuring thing out. I made a lot of projects but nothing special. I got bored and parked the Ortur laser master. a month ago I bought the longer Ray 5-10 with airassit. oh wow what a difference. I update my Lightburn there is so much more you can do today/ I have been digging into this like a rabid dog for the last month. everyday I learn something new. for an old retired guy it is good.😁🛫

Great video. I'm new to creating this matrix and its well explained. I hear you say that the focused spot is 0.08mm x0.08mm (and its in the manufactureres spec sheet) but I notice your cuts are about 0.3mm wide. Why the difference?
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Жыл бұрын
The size of the kerf is determined by the precision of the focusing. I don't dial in the focus for the purpose of videos, so it can be off a bit. I doubt it was 0.3mm though. During the original testing when I focused on the focus 🤪 I believe I measured 0.09mm.

Enjoy your videos very much. I do have a question ⁉️🤔 When would you run any tests at 💯 percent power especially when all the manufacturer said it will quickly shorten the life of the Lazer. So why not stop at 90 percent.
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Жыл бұрын
I don't know what diode manufacturer says that. It's a Co2 laser you can't run over 70% power, and the ones that say you can, throttle the power in the controller. Yes, diodes will last longer at lower power, but the lifespan is so long, and the degradation is so slow, the laser will probably outlive it's welcome, or you'll want to move to newer technology before the diode degrades to point where you can't use it.

Hallo Rich. After struggling with the Boleans without any result I solved my problem using the Node Editing. This took more than 20 hours. I feel that an "Eraser" is needed: a function making it possible to draw a circle or a rectangle over a part of a design and, with one click, erase all that is within the frame of the eraser. If such a function is indeed not available in Lightburn ( I could not find) than, maybe, your connection to the developer can yield such a function. Please send me a link to your Patreon account! How do I sign into your Forum? Again my many thanks for your videos. Emanuel

Great video and other videos. I am new to this hobby and slowly getting up to speed. Quick question, I have the algo delta, 22w, optical is between 19.5 and 22w. Do you recommend the atezr 20w library or the Ikier pro 24w-40w. I understand I'll need to tweak but just wondering your recommendation. As i grow my library, i will share in the future Thanks

Great video! What, if anything does the max speed and power under the cut settings editor do in this tool?? I would believe they should be greyed out or do we set the max power at 100% and max speed to infinity?? I don’t think they even function in this test….

I have an Ortur LM2proS2 with the LM2-4-sf module. I looked up the focal point and it says .17x.25mm. What I don't understand is when you selected the test card setup and you checked to make sure the LPI was 317, you stated that was a good setup for lasers with focal point of .8. You then proceeded to the Comgrow web site and saw that it was at .8. What I don't understand is how you knew that the 317 LPI was correct for a focal point of .8. Since my laser is .17x.25mm, how do I determine what the proper LPI and other settings are correct?

Back already. I have just created a Materials Library for Plywood, using settings in tutorial. I don't know where to find manufacturer for my Ruida CO2 50w laser. In Lightburn when I click on Devices it shows two entries: iLaser/GCode and Ruida/DSP. I pulled up an engraved photo that was passable and it shows LI 080 and DPI 317.

Hmm. Not according to their website. If I could send you a screen shot it says focal point .17x.25 mm. May I ask where you got your information from? The .05x.1. And how do I determine what the proper LPI is for that? I gather the values of .05x.1 makes it an oval shape rather than a true circle? If it is an oval would it make a difference on direction of engrave or being that it’s that small does it make a difference?

The manufacturers don't make libraries, I do. You can make your own by using the manufacturer settings which you should have gotten in a pdf file with the manual. Here's a video that will teach you how to make libraries Steve: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6K9qqycmtqVhc0

Thank you for all of your content. I purchased a K40 because of you're videos. I just recently signed up for the forum and downloaded the material library for the k40 and was wondering if the line interval needs to be updated. If memory serves, I had to edit the machine limits on my Z1 in firmware to get above 5000mm/min. I see you did similar to me for mounting the Z1. I made printed pieces instead of hardware store angles tho. I didn't notice whether the preview on the generator gave an indication of size. Would be helpful for slate coasters. Interesting. I see that but if scroll down to the technical specs just below that you will see the four different modules. The LM 2 10w shows what you stated. However the LM 2-4 LF shows the .17x.25mm. Minute differences but yet small enough to make a difference in details, isn’t it? But how do you determine what LPI to use?

When you set up the test card for cutting the default speed was 6000....you said "we won't trust this 100 and will change it to 80". Were you working in mm/sec or mm/min?
