If you want to eliminate the small little cuts within your sentiment offset (when doing a smaller/tighter offset), click on Contour (lower right next to Attach) afterwards and then hide the ones you don’t want cut

OMG! You’re right! No pesky holes ever again! My Joy is my baby. I have no interest in vinyl, sublimation, etc. I love using the Joy for custom sentiments, but I never thought of writing directly on the patterned paper! I’m used to doing offsets, which is very fun. Have to admit, though, I do like the rounded edges of die cuts too. If only Cricut could come up with something like that!

This is the video I have been hoping for!! Thank you, Thank you! I am 60+ have been an avid stamper for more than 30 years. Love making cards, love stamping and coloring, but during Covid I wanted to try something new and purchased an Explore Air2. My kids didn''t have the patience to help me and so it hasn't gotten a whole lot of use. This is exactly what I want to do. Create my own greetings or sentiments in any color I want and cut them out. You are a lifesaver! I enjoy watching your short reels, but I'm at that age where I need more explanations and details on the how and supplies you use. I hope you find the time to do more videos for us older card makers. Your cards are great!

A new fav! Thanks again! Oh, who doesn't like receiving handmade cards?? No one I know throws my cards away, they are treasure. I have a stamp I use for the back of my cards that says " This card was made by hand If you throw it away those same hands will make a doll in your image and stick pins in its butt." So, there are a lot of other advantages to each of the die-cutting machine and/or the Cricut. Let's start with the Cricut: 1. You have a lot more sizing flexibility - you can make it bigger or smaller at your whim. You can even change the proportions. 2. You can customize the sentiments, as you noted. 3. You can cut/write as many as you like at one time by duplicating. 4. It can do you cuts and your fold/score lines for you (if you have the Maker or Explorer). HINT: Duplicate your score lines to get a better impression. 5. It's a lot easier on your shoulders! Die Cutting Machine: 1. Nicer looking text with a stamp. 2. A pretty, rounded edge for the cuts. 3. MUCH easier to emboss. 4. Placement is easier with a stamp. Final conclusion: Both are must-haves for the well-stocked craft room!

@annettespecht8315
@annettespecht8315 Жыл бұрын
@@elizabethp2040 you can! Type your sentiment and size it . Look for the offset tool and choose external offset to give that cutting outline around the text. Change the color of the offset line to one different than your text color. After you click send, choose the "cut by line color" at the top of that page. Choose the color of your text first and change the tool from blade to pen. Click send. After the writing is done, change the selection to the color you chose for cutting and the tool to blade. Hit send. Voila! There are better instructions on youtube. Search silhouette offset and silhouette using a pen

You shouldnt need to replace the blade that often - clean your blade by getting a rolled up ball of aluminium foil, take the blade out of the machine and gently press the button on top, then repeatedly "stab" the ball... it cleans (it doesnt sharpen) the blade of all the crap that does build up on it and will extend the life of the blade and give a better cut!

Rather than using your bone folder, run your cuts through a somewhat tight sandwich in your manual die cutting machine afterwards to make the cut smoother. It still won’t have the nice rounded look like you get from a die but it looks much more professional than the „ragged“ line you get from a blade.

I don't have one, but I would like one! Especially because I can't find that many sentiment stamps in my language that I really like. It sure is a a great addition to your craft room. But alas, I'm not able to afford it. Maybe with my next lustrum I can ask my family to get me one.

I JUST found your channel today and I watched the “unwritten,” card. GORGEOUS!! I’m nowhere near as good but I do have an all in one machine that might help you. It’s from We R Memory Keepers, it’s their All in One tool. It makes cards, has the ability to do cut paper, do fold marks, make envelopes, put in holes and notches, you can use your stamps, it has an extension arm. It would replace 3 of the machines I saw you use in that video. The Misty, the stamp press and the paper cutter and you’d get additional functionality. Shoot, it even allows you the ability to make bows. The price ranges from around $70 online to close to $100 in stores. Hope this helps you!! ❤

Great lesson, you have a fantastic teaching voice & style (so says the 30 yr teacher). I don't have the Joy but was intrigued in one of your previous videos. This video was quite insightful. I have a scan-n-cut & also use my computer to create sentiments both on cards & separately. I've downloaded quite a few fonts to use. I'll have to give some serious thought about adding this joy to my craft room. Thanks for creating & sharing this tutorial.

Great video! I’m not a card maker, but I have a Joy, LOVED it and quickly outgrew it, take my advice, spend the extra $50.00 and get the Explore then you can “Print the Cut”, that would be a big game changer for a card maker!

Thank you so much! I bought a Cricut Joy a few weeks ago and started regretting it soon after. Many videos later with no luck teaching me how to draw and cut sentiments and I started questioning whether the Joy could even do it. Then I saw your Short with the flowers and sentiment and knew it was possible! Your instructions were easy to understand and I successfully created along with you! Thanks!

I have had several Cricut’s. I always used them and my grandchildren when they were much younger loved making all kinds of things. I upgraded to the Cricut Explore ( I think that was the one) found it so hard to use and I have lots of the cartridges. It’s just sitting collecting dust. Now I’m thinking of getting the JOY after watching several of your videos. What a great job you have done in a short time. 💙gayle I have to say your cards are all amazing. I would love making my own sentiments you really convinced me on the joy. I’ll sell my big cricut as it’s only sitting in storage 😢. Thanks, Ralph 💙💙

I have been hemmin' and hawin' about getting a Cricut because of the learning curve - I didn't feel like I had the patience to figure it out. This little tool is EXACTLY what I was looking for - thank you SO MUCH for sharing your knowledge and presenting in such a simple way. I bought the Joy last night and am so excited to watch this tutorial on repeat! Truly - thank you. I would totally pay for these little mini classes. Give a little information to practice - it's not so overwhelming. I also love your story! I've been in IT for 25 years and I did take 5 years off to start my own fused glass studio. It's totally worth it! 🥰

Thank you for making this video!! I commented about my interest in the Joy on your previous video and am so grateful for the follow-through! I have a Silhouette Portrait 3 that I originally got for cutting my own planner stickers, but it's kind of a hassle to use for such a small card element (limited space, randomly stopped connecting with our newer laptop so we have to drag out the 10+ year old dinosaur laptop, etc...). Cricut design space has always seemed intimidating to me because of the blackout file .PNG needed for planner stickers and not understanding it all, but holy smokes! Your explanation was so clear and easy to follow! Kudos from a teacher who knows how difficult that can be. Maybe Silhouette Studio is not as user friendly, or maybe it's just a lot of user error 😂 but I can't seem to get the hang of it no matter how many tutorials I watch. The Cricut Joy seems very simple to use for what I want, which is custom sentiments. It's definitely going on my Christmas list! Thank you for taking the time to make the video and explain everything so well. I'm super excited for your upcoming news and announcements and wish you all the best in your new KZbin journey 😊❤

Thank you so much. This is exactly what I've been wanting to know. I appreciate seeing what the cricut joy can do and how it works. You have a nice way way of teaching and explaining things. I enjoy your channel. Tapping slapping peeling whirling clicking snipping, flipping, shaking sounds are nice. I have an easy way I like making custom sentiments but this content is what I've been looking for so thanks again.

I have both a Cricut Explore Air 2 and 2 manual machines, a Spellbinders 6 (my everyday machine), and a Sizzix Big Shot Plus for larger cutting projects. I think each has its pluses and minuses. I love the beveled edge created by manual dies. Plus, you can get much more detailed cuts from a manual machine (some of my cutting dies have the teeniest pieces!). Electronic cutters offer the ability to customize and get or design your own sentiments and images for very little, if any, money. You can change the size of an element to fit your design exactly or pick the perfect font. I often use them in conjunction with one another.

I have a Cricut Air2 and the Joy! I love both machines but right now my favorite machine is the Joy. Its perfect to bring to crop weekends. I love that you can do simple and basic things. I cut down my scraps to fit the Joy mats. I never tried doing the drawing/writing with it. Might just have to give that a try. Loved your video! Thanks!

I started cardmaking a few years ago. I bought a die cut/embossing machine. A year or so ago, I bought the Joy. It was a game changer. I bought it originally to use to write the messages inside cards. But it has enabled me to do so much more than I thought. I still use stamps, dies, and embossing folders (why limit yourself?), but I'm making cards I wouldn't have been able to make without the Joy.

I have had a Cricut machine for years and love it. My pens seem to write less smoothly than yours, though, especially the metallic ones. And yes, I would like to know how to get it to fill in those letters.

QUESTIONS: 1) Do they have compatible calligraphy tipped pens? I think that would provide an easy fill technique. 2) Do 5x7 cards fit in this? 3) Can you cut stencils out with this machine? 4) If no to 3 and 4, what is the next machine that you would recommend? Thanks so much! I'm seriously looking for the next machine. I have the electronic Sizzex BIG SHOT SWITCH and loads of dies but want to design my own artwork for cards and journals. Karen

I have a brand new Cricut Joy for months now, lots of idea’s, but I cannot seem to let it do what I want it to do. I bought books about it and saw many KZbin tutorials. Nada. I saw a few of your moves, and it starts to make sense. Please keep on making these explanations, you do well, also for non English speaking natives! I also think that it helps that your a kind looking person, who is totally into it by hearth. Or so it seems. Thanky you, Miranda NL.

The way I gasped when you showed how to take a script font down to a single pen line! I did not know that was a thing. I have an Explore 2 (older and big, but still chugging) and I'm always looking for ways to cut and write sentiments with it because I can't afford all the stamp sets and dies. Plus I love being able to write my own snarky sentiments with bonus curse words. :D These were great tips!

This was so interesting! I have a scanncut and can’t say it’s great. I make cards and get so fed up of it not being able to cut sentiments like you’ve just shown…..mmm ..might look at circut…..when you cut small stamped images out do you have to spend time with a pencil making sure it’s a ‘closed’ image? This drives me potty!

Thanks Ralph! I have a Joy and a Maker. I think I'd like to get a white ink pen that'll fit the machine and make strip sentiments on black card with the Joy. The Cricut sans or Dear John fonts should work ok for this. I agree about the beautiful die cut edges for for strips it shouldn't really matter on a strip right? Not sure if I'd have to print it 2x or not because of the black. I do have a gold pen that I could try from Dollar Tree that is the most vibrant gold pen I've bought so far.
