I didn't have any luck with watercolors. Watered down acrylic paint from Walmart gives great texture and a shine.

I use the gloss medium when the paper on the bottom layer is either very porous or fragile. It takes a bit of experimenting to know when it will work better to have gloss medium as a in between layer.

I don't use medium, except to sometimes coat the bottom layer if the paper is light weight. I dilute the top layers so that you can see the color underneath a tad. I show you how I do this in the video.

Very cool.. some of the patterns look like ice... really pretty! You come up with some very interesting and different techniques. Can't wait to try this. Just to confirm.. you need to let the paper dry completely before removing the cling wrap???

Yes, thoroughly dry. You can always lift early, but you won't get the same crisp results.

Almost all my papers tore. I also couldn’t get the plastic wrap off them, stuck tight! I’m going to see if a coat of gloss medium will help. I’m using Golden paints and mixed media 98 lb paper.

Are you using heavy weight papers like water color or mixed media? That is what I used in the demo, and no tearing. I used 80 lb drawing paper, as well as 140 lb water color and mixed media papers. When I used 50 lb drawing paper, my tore as well. Experiment with other types of paper in your stash to find one that works without the added coat of gloss medium.

Tuns out the difference was using Saran Wrap. Cheap plastic wrap was just too thin.

Sometimes it’s not just the weight but the quality of the paper. I’ve had trouble with cardstock because it was cheap and layers separated in pulling!

Is the base layer watered down.

No the base layer is full strength paint, although you could water this down as well. Just fully dry the base layer before you add the watery paint and cling wrap. Only the top layer must be watered down for this to work.

I have not, however cling wrap would make a fabulous mark maker. I don't think it would work the same way as what I'm showing here, but it would provide gorgeous marks.

I have always (for 2 years) used cheap copy paper and it has Never peeled. Maybe it's your paint. I use cheap paint from Walmart and have had No problems.

Go to settings (the cog symbol under the video picture), choose playback speed, and click on 0.75 or 0.5. Be aware that until you change it back, it will apply to all the subsequent videos.
