I have a FB Friend who wants resin "rocks" in a heart shape so that she can use them in her wire wrapping jewelry! The methods are also fairly simple so that really helps. I'm new at this resin stuff but I can do this technique. thanks again!!

I'm actually trying to figure out the best color mix for green jasper, so this is perfect. I'm doing some cheese knife handles, but wanted a visually interesting stone effect. This looks like the right direction after all! I might go a tad darker, then swirl in some brown. Maybe add tiny copper/brown flakes for that speckled effect. The turquoise looks cool, but maybe adding something that would behave like faux cracks would help sell the look.

@@LittleWindowsResin I'm currently working on them this week. I realized that what I'm going for is bloodstone jasper, which is making this very fun. Because of the nature of the cheese handle molds, I've realized I need to pour at different parts, let it drizzle, etc. I might be a tad addicted now LOL.

I've been telling everyone I can about her resin. I've been using it for about 10 years and it is definitely the best resin on the market. And I've never found a better mold, especially not one that can beat her prices. I found someone else that makes molds on Instagram, but they are all in the $40 to $100 range! They are nice, but that's a huge amount to pay.

I would love a tutorial on the jasper rings!! Did you use a perfect ring bezel to fit?
@LittleWindowsResin3 жыл бұрын
Hello Sophie! Nope, I just popped the thin castings out of my Small Geometric Shapes Mold, put them on my Doming Tray, added a layer of clear resin, let that thicken up for about 1 hour, and pushed my rings into the resin. The rings had a round flat part that measures about 1/4" across, so that's the anchor. Super easy, and the light can still filter through since there is no bezel wrapping around or behind it. Does that help? If you'd like to chat more email me fran@little-windows.com :) Here's a link back to that tutorial in case you'd like to see more close-ups of the projects: www.little-windows.com/blogs/project-center/jasper-agate-stained-glass-effects-with-resin

Query: I've seen people use a syringe for filling their bangle molds....are you still able to do a dirty pour with this method? I wouldn't think so but thought I would ask.
@LittleWindowsResin2 жыл бұрын
Hello Dell! You could fill with a syringe, but you'll need a pretty big one unless you're pouring in layers, and I don't know how you'd be able to do a dirty pour. I'm imagining filling the syringe by pouring in each color, and that might leave them in layers unable to blend much. Unless you fill the syringe with already loosely mixed resin. Hmm. Sounds like some experimenting is in order! Thanks for asking :) - Fran@little-windows.com

Mam can I use acrylic paint instead of colorant ?
@LittleWindowsResin2 жыл бұрын
Hello! Sorry for the delayed reply. I don't recommend acrylic paints as they are water based and can do odd things to resin and affect the set and durability of your finished project. I hope that's of help :) fran@little-windows.com

Can acrylic paint be used for this
@LittleWindowsResin Жыл бұрын
Hello Umeadi! No, I don't recommend blending acrylic paints into resin as they are waterbased. This will cause problems with set up and finish quality so stick with colorants that have been proven to work well, like the ones in this guide: www.little-windows.com/pages/ways-to-color-resin You can use acrylic skins, or paint with acrylics between resin layers for amazing effects. You'll see some examples in the guide above. Let me know how your creations turn out (photos are always welcome :) fran@little-windows.com

Is UV resin not recommended for these kind of bracelet?
@LittleWindowsResin21 күн бұрын
Hello @sandracarter7231! UV resin makes this much harder, as you can't use opaque pigments or the light won't reach through to set it up well. Epoxy resin like the Brilliant Resin I use from little-windows.com is way more flexible as you can add liquid, gel, or powder colorants and it sets up just fine. If you want to make transparent castings UV resin will work for this. Let me know if you have any other questions :) fran@little-windows.com

Can this be done with UV resin?
@LittleWindowsResin2 жыл бұрын
No, it won't harden throughout if the colorants are opaque. Also, the blending would create bubbles and air pockets that would be hard to remove. I suppose you could make some of the smaller, more shallow pieces with UV resin. Thanks for asking :) - Fran@little-windows.com

Would this work with us resin?
@LittleWindowsResin3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lauren! If you mean UV resin I doubt it, those types of resin require transparency to cure, so you'd have to do many thin layers, which would not allow you to get these effects. It would also be quite expensive for the larger castings like the bangles. Let me know if I can be of help in any other way :) fran@little-windows.com

Sorry about that! I didn't want this tutorial to be too repetitive. For the pretty turquoise I mixed Carribean alcohol ink with White Resin Colorant. If you'd like, you can swirl in some darker blue like Gentian, or some Apple if you want it a bit more greeny-blue. You can also swipe in some stripes of white if you want veining. Here's a link to our Rainbow Alcohol Inks Set which has these colors: www.little-windows.com/collections/resin-colors-1/products/alcohol-ink-rainbow-set And here's the White Resin Colorant, which was used in nearly all of the stone effects shown in this tutorial: www.little-windows.com/collections/resin-colors-1/products/white-resin-colorant Have fun making :) fran@little-windows.com
