I was listening to commentary on Generative AI and the point being made is that if people are looking to make money there potential best bet is for manual labor or mechanical jobs. Like being an hvac repair man or a helicopter /aircraft mechanic. Its just sad. The narrative had always been sold to us as AI will take the jobs that no one wants to do and free us up to do more art. Yes, it takes very little time to generate these models, but it's now been commoditized. Or at least the bottom part of the market will be. And more and more of the creative market will be subsumed as the technology gets better. When you automate things, you also separate a part of yourself from it. Denuding humanity's relationship to what draws us to art in the first place. It's a complicated issue, but generative ai doesn't make me feel good as a creative, personally.

maybe there will be a market for human made things, including games
@wellheytherehihowyadoin11 ай бұрын
@@Ash-nh6li I think there will always be a market for stuff made by humans. As someone who works in the media landscape, I'm concerned the percentage of people who will be able to make this work as a means of providing income is a fraction of what we've known it to be. I know folks are working on this, but how will we know what's made by humans? After a lot of negative rumination around the topic, I've finally decided to continue my path as a creator. Not by using Gen AI tools, but by stepping up the complexity of what I aim to do. I poke my head in here to see how these things might be helpful to some future creative process, like AI assisted rotoscoping is now. So far though, all I identify these things with is labor REPLACING tech, not labor enhancing tech. I humbly accept this could be because of a lack of creativity or understanding on my part. In general though, most of this stuff continues to be deflating and I think we've yet to see the full extent of the fallout on society.

@@wellheytherehihowyadoin I'm using AI everyday now for my 3d job. What I can do now in one week would have taken me months to do without it. It's only going to get faster and yes there will be a large amount of current workflows replaced. I think we are just going to get more involved with the craft of world building in the future. AI is still pretty aimless as impressive as it is, there will still need to be a human creative to direct the AI. I am holding out for the positives and in no time we are going to see some very complex masterpieces and a TON of really simple poor thought out projects by the masses.

There's definitely some loss to the quality to the texture. As it's applied as colours on the mesh (I forget the name for it right now) rather than as a texture map material. (So your original image used by ZoeDepth isn't actually used as the texture itself). So, unfortunately, remaining pretty zoomed out is the best option. It's a limitation with ZoeDepth as it currently stands.

Even if it's still relatively primitive, it still would be useful to use with the rise of "PS1 Graphic" games coming out. This could be a style of its own. AI 1.0 style. But yeah, hope it does get better in the end, and hope AI will cover the more tedious areas of 3D. Creating the model seemed like the most fun to me, I don't want AI to substitute that. But texturing, rigging, animating, UV Mapping, programming, coding etc. Those are more the areas I would like AI to cover, right now AI is mostly taking over the "fun" aspects of creating 3D models and games.

Thanks for posting, that's a really interesting role you have and yeah I can't think how Meshy (as it currently stands) can help with that. Perhaps once the image to model generation improves via Meshy or another platform there might be some scope, but I'd assume for your use case you'd need 100% exact control so manual modelling will always be needed. This will be a critic for the ai technology and not for the video.(The video vas understandable) To start of: before i can even think of an use of this i wanna know how it deals whit topology (this is in my eyes the most important, if topology is bad the the other ones will 100% be bad), normal maps, textures, riging(how many bones it gives, how it places them, and last but not least weight painting). If it gives anything close to unfinished sculpt whit bones, random weights, and randomly cut maps, then it will be hard as f to edit it and clean it up afterwards. (Also just for demonstration thet bear is not really well riged, one look at its arms on 8:24 and any given people who has played any videogames or seen any 3d animated movie can tell thet something is really off, this is probably topology failure and because of thet it can not be well weight painted and animated) If i woud have to use it right now i woud maximum only use the animation feature (it woud probably need some clean up), but whit a self-made and rigged 3d model, or just a realy based out starting point for modelling. And just to be clear i am not saying thet its bad, i am saying thet it has a looooooooong way before it it usable any area of 3d modelling. But its an acceptable start for ai in 3d modelling, i believe it will never replace 3d artists because it can only combinate and can not create anything new, it will always need more training data or it will put out the same results after some time, but it will make the process of 3d modelling a lot easier. Hope this review helps.
