Such a horrible move. My show and many others are now going to need to pivot and figure a way to relay episodes without music. Not everything needs to be implemented with AI, Spotify. Musicians as guests on my show loved the fact that we had an interactive format and now it's leaving. You've totally squashed the uniqueness of what you offered for creatives. My podcast is no longer exclusive to Spotify.

Your drag and drop editing feature is the most innovative technology we've ever seen for podcasting. This is a devastating blow. Back to using Adobe Audition to create single file mixidowns.

Discontinuong music+talk represents the end of my podcast. It is a shame that money and company interests can crush so many music lovers’ dreams. Just shameful.

You killed my podcast and others like it. Spotify effectively killed an entire genre of Music + Talk podcasts because there is no solution that provides what you were providing for anyone who just wanted to create content. Not everyone can afford a blanket music license, and desktop and app editing made it a lot better. I'm still looking for a way to continue what I did, but I doubt I will find it in the format I had that I really loved.

Music + Talk is a wonderful feature. Please don't take it away! I don't know if it's Spotify or the record labels that never allowed it to grow. This is such a great and natural way for people to share and learn about music while the artists get compensated for their music being used. It is shameful that this type of podcast has never been allowed to flourish on the internet. Also, it's terrible dropping this on us with no advance warning. I had no indication this was happening two weeks ago when I posted my last episode. I have one episode that I'm trying to post today and another for the 28th that is my most time intensive of the year that I've already put about 20 hours into.

You’ve made a mess of this one Spotify. Lots of music + talk shows now doomed to end or left having to find an alternative platform, taking the listeners with them (many of who possibly subscribed to your premium service because of these podcasts). You really haven’t thought about this one. Hope you rethink it.
@LilianStockBonzi4 ай бұрын
Please reconsider continuing music + talk. I was starting to create a podcast and now it's already dead. No other place could provide this service except creating playlist for each program, which is not a practical thing for creators and listeners. Please. 😢

What the hell? I'm on to support now hoping this is just a poorly worded press release, why would you get rid of adding music from your library so we can do music and talk podcasts? And why would you condemn mobile editing as its well known most people don't have desktops! This if im reading it as the above is a huge backwards step. From what was a great little setup

This needs rethinking Spotify, removing the Music + Talk feature is going to stop dead so many podcasts. The Riverside integration looks neat but not everybody wants it or needs it, removing the music + talk feature is the big killer here. I for one subscribed to premium Spotify (moving from Amazon) just to listen to these shows full tracks. Without these shows I won’t require the premium subscription anymore.

@@jackofalltrades7858 The only option thats somehow realistic is KZbin, since many people have that App anyway. There, you could upload one big video that has music and talk in it. Yes, there wont be monetisation, but it seems like KZbin wouldn't take this down either. Or you do playlists for each episode, upload the talk parts (unlisted) and embed them in the playlists with music/musicvideos from the original sources. Might be more clunky, but you could monetise it. And you would be able to publish single talk parts as "essays" or whatever, which could gain traction by themselves.

One of the challenges of other platforms is music collections. One of the benefits of music and talk episodes is the ability to have access to lots of tracks.

definitely. I"m trying to figure out how the Mixcloud DJs do it. some of them are just show archives from terrestrial radio. Some of them are just DJ sets , including people spinning their own vinyl. I think there might be multiple tiers for how Mixcloud handles the rightsholder stuff but I'm pretty sure you have to own the music somehow to begin with . I listen to several different kinds of shows on there ranging from podcasty music shows to stuff that's coming straight from terrestrial indie radio. @@alanfindlayviewfromtherock6200
