@CreatedByGwen10 ай бұрын
It's kind of a mixture of those things and more. It's any stitching (by hand) on fabric. To me it's almost like scrapbooking too but with fabric. You can make pretty little pictures out of fabric scraps that are stitched together. You use different stitches to make texture or pattern and to fold the pieces of fabric in place. Mine aren't super complicated or detailed, but for me the goal is not really the end product, it's the joy of sitting quietly and just stitch stitch stitching away.

You are so welcome!!! Those Couture Creation storage boxes are the best... I am not in touch with the guy who did mine any longer I'm sorry, BUT, you could get this done by any cabinet maker. He took one of the containers with him for measurements and then just went off my description of what I wanted. You could show them the images in this video and give them a box and they could pop it together for you. From what he explained (and what I remember) it was not a super complicated job for a cabinet maker. You'd also want someone pretty local to you too, because shipping is the worst. Hi Gwen, love your crafting space, so neat and tidy. I'm in the middle of redoing my space, just moved everything. Could you share more info on the cupboard storing the couture creations 12 x 13 storage boxes please?
@CreatedByGwen2 жыл бұрын
Hey Allison, Glad you found my space inspiring, creating a new space is so so fun (and exhausting at the same time right??) That unit for the Couture Creations 12 inch boxes is a custom made one. I had a cabinet maker come out and measure the space on top of the IKEA unit below for external measurements and then I gave him one of the boxes. He then went away and designed it and built it for me (so clever right!) It's basically a box, with then rails routed into the sides for the lip of the boxes to sit on. I told him I wanted it to be 2 columns wide and 6 high. It's made of a similar material to the IKEA shelves... something cheap I'd imagine and then has laminate over the top to make it look pretty. Hope this info helps. It cost around $250, for me, it has been worth every cent!

Gorgeous room and beautifully organized. I’m curious on one thing you said about your cameo machines. You mentioned an adaptor for Mac. I’m thinking of buying a new computer and I’m running a windows system now. I have one older cameo and the cameo 4. Will I need adaptors?
@CreatedByGwen2 жыл бұрын
Hey Joyce, I'm not entirely sure, as I think it will depend on the Mac you go with. I run a Mac Book Pro only (so a laptop not a desktop) and it does not come with any USB ports, so I need this adapter which plugs into the side of my Mac which then has the USB ports in it. I've never had a Mac desktop computer so I've no idea if they come with the USB's standard (I'm thinking they don't - it's a Mac thing). If you were to stay with Microsoft I'm sure a new desktop would have USB ports standard so you wouldn't need the adaptor. Best to check with the machine you end up with. The adaptors are not hard to get and fairly inexpensive so either way it's not a big deal. Also, with the Cameo 4 you can always just use the Blue Tooth, I just like to hard wire things sometimes incase there are any connectivity issues, especially if I plan on a binge cutting session. Hope this helps xo
@CreatedByGwen2 жыл бұрын
I also forgot to add in here that the adaptor also allows me to run the two machines at the same time :) You do need the 'Business version' of Silhouette Studio to do this, but it is very handy when you have a lot of cutting to do.

I have a black brown Kallax with white doors, I really like the look and it's nice to see a similar unit in someone else's room. Just a question: I see you have deep drawers on your Kallax. Did you convert a door panel into a drawer? If so, it's genius! Thanks for sharing your space, I really enjoyed the visit! 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by and your kind words, I feel the same, there are so so many white on white craft rooms. Our home suited this style a little better so I went for it. I think the lighter doors and boxes do help brighten it up. I love mixing vintage things with my craft supplies. Two of my favourite kinds of things. Those small draws by the window were a thrifted find, I love how I can put pretty things on top too. The big deep draws were from IKEA, just off the shelf, I haven't done anything special to them...I'm not that clever lolol I tried to look them up but I don't think they do that style anymore, which is a real shame. I did like this option though: www.ikea.com/au/en/p/gnabbas-basket-40400317/ or this one: www.ikea.com/au/en/p/branaes-basket-rattan-80173153/ Not as good as an actual draw, but looks pretty solid. I think they have gone down this path more than the slide out draw options. Maybe you could keep an eye out second hand for some? Maybe at some point someone will want to part with some :)

@CreatedByGwen2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for such kind words Jewel :) I've done a few things with the stuff to purge including donating some to my local kindy, selling some on Facebook Marketplace or in Facebook groups or to my scrappy friends and just giving some stuff away. I am also now much more careful about what I bring into the studio, so that I don't have more coming in than I know I'm going to use. I have also been really focussed on using up stuff, like the washi, I use that on the back of most pages to secure my stitching, and I am slowly but surely using that up. I am purposefully not buying any more. I have to remind myself though! So, it's still a work in progress, but I am realising that I am a much happier creative when I have a smaller amount of supplies to manage.

I had been giving my Destash stuff to my local elementary school to the art teachers. Sadly when I went to take a bunch of bags in the pandemic they would not take it for fear of covid. So I ended up donating them which made me much more sad. But at that time I had already purged them much earlier and sat in bags ready to go so at least I forgot what was in there. The school was worried about covid and contamination. But I am hoping now that will not be an issue. We do now know you can not catch it by surfaces especially if it sat for a while. It would not survive past a day or so max. This time I intend to contact the art teacher directly and avoid the office so no chance of getting denied. We also have some senior citizens care centers who make crafts and cards. So I may give some destash to them as well. I do not mind getting rid of stuff when I feel it goes to good cause like children or crafting seniors. But I hate the thought o wasted the money when buying g stuff and getting rid of it when I just donate to charity places like for profit thrift stores. But it will do when I get stuck.
@CreatedByGwen2 жыл бұрын
@@Amywazwaz06 Nursing homes are a great place to offer craft items to... I know they use simple craft supplies and are not always thought of. It is tricky, you feel bad having wasted the money and donating to someone that will use them helps it not be so wasteful. I have come to the conclusion though that even if I have to throw some stuff away, it's not a total waste because I've learnt a valuable lesson that I will remember next time I'm at the store. :)
