Yucatan, Mexico with Kids | Flamingos & Cenotes (Part 3)

We took our three kids to the Yucatan, Mexico on a 2-month worldschooling adventure. We visited Celestun, Parque Zoológico del Centenario, Uxmal, and Cenotes Hacienda Mucuyche. Near the end of our adventures, our baby girl was born in a Merida hospital. Follow along as we worldschool, experience the Yucatan with kids, and have a baby.

We had an amazing time exploring Yucatan, Mexico with kids! During our 2 month trip, we stayed in Merida, and visited Maya ruins Chichen Itza and Uxmal. We also saw wild flamingos at Celestun, and visited Parque Zoológico del Centenario in Merida. Additionally, we swam in beautiful natural limestone pools at Cenotes Hacienda Mucuyche in Yucatan Mexico.
Worldschooling with kids - We had a great full day adventure at Celestun with our kids. We walked along the beach and hired a boat for a flamingo tour, which cost about 2,500 pesos ($150) for 90 minutes. Did you know a flock of flamingos is called a flamboyance of flamingos? On the tour, we saw around 40 flamingos in the wild, a Mangrove trees forest, and a small crocodile eating a lizard. The experience was a fun way to see Yucatan wildlife up close.
We also visited Parque Zoológico del Centenario in Merida, Mexico with kids. Large lizards relaxed in the sun along the walking paths. We saw different kinds of primates including monkeys and lemurs, plus hippos, tigers, reptiles, and more! We enjoyed exploring Parque Zoológico del Centenario with kids on a warm day in Merida.
Back at our Airbnb, we worked as digital nomads, our kids did homeschool, I washed laundry, and created content for Create. Play. Travel. A tutor came to our Airbnb and taught our kids Spanish once a week. Our whole family enjoyed swimming in our backyard pool. We often ordered local Mexican food using a service called Rappi.
Another afternoon we visited Uxmal, an ancient Maya city considered to be one of the most important archaeological sites of Maya culture. We had a great time exploring Uxmal with kids. Next, we visited Cenotes Hacienda Mucuyche, explored and swam in a variety of connected natural limestone pools. After entering the first cenote, we swam through a tunnel into a leafy waterway. This ended in a large cavern cenote. Cenotes Hacienda Mucuyche was one of the more interesting cenotes we visited.
