As far as i am concerned, you did a good job by quenching the steel "although it did not need it"! Leaf spring steel is already hardened. I must say that you made a beautifully hand crafted blade. Thank you.

Having declared my dissatisfaction with this sharpener last night kzbin.infoUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ I thought about the problem some more. It occurred to me that I might be undoing each attempt at achieving a sharp edge by the repeated attempts. So, I tried to clean up the unsatisfactory result by honing with only positions 3 and 4.Miracle!! A really nicely sharpened chef's knife, more than enough to handle my needs. Admittedly, it did not reach professionally sharpened razor-fineness, but it is now significantly sharper than it was. A bout of breaking down carrots convinced me. So, major apologies to the manufacturer, Amazon, and all happy and potential owners! Follow the directions: don't buy it if you have ceramic blades; and don't overwork your knife blade.

This technique is cool! it makes me think of a novel titled "Dies The Fire" by S.M. Stirling where some strange "supernatural" change in the natural law like electricity and thermodynamics without killing us which puts us back to medieval times because electricity can't power electronics or electric lights, nuclear fission beomes nuclear fizzle, and most importantly gunpowder won't burn fast enough to propel a bullet. They had to fashion bows and arrows, crossbows and swords and one source of spring steel available was leaf springs from all the abandoned cars on the highways.Pretty cool novel, or trilogy actually if you like science fiction.That is one stunning piece of workmanship! Beautiful!

@@user-os6zw7tr1e в смысле,это просто орудие для экстремального отдыха,а там чем проще тем лучше. Ну может если для коллекции или понтов то я согласен. А так это лишнее,это просто рабочий инструмент,в моем случае я его ковал для походов на природу,это и топор и нож ну и лопата,это как на моем.

Выглядит да обалденно а вот где его использовать вообще непонятно топору проигрывает для мачете слишком тяжелый... лучше бы из рессоры топорик бы сделал было бы намного практичнее.. а так получилась тяжелая красивая и по факту бесполезная железка с ручкой
