MISSING, starring Storm Reid, is a standalone sequel to the computer-screen-thriller SEARCHING. MISSING is also a screen-based film, and the editors, Arielle Zakowski and Austin Keeling, were kind enough to show me their very specific and unique post workflow to create it. As their first studio feature film, they really got thrown in the deep end working on such a technically challenging film, but their results speak for themselves - it's a great movie! And wonderfully edited. Go check out MISSING in theaters now, and see the extended 45 minute version of my interview with Austin and Arielle on my Patreon: / standardstoryco

About me:
I've been making short films for 20 years, starting at age 11. I directed my first feature film, Bad is Bad, in 2010. Made for only $6,000, the film went on to reach over 7 million views and garner critical acclaim. More recently, my short film, Will "The Machine", screened and won awards at film festivals around the world. Released online in 2019, it reached over 1 million views in just a month. I also work as a video editor, cutting ads for clients such as Apple, Netflix, and Beats by Dre.

I like the idea of being able to show the viewer the sort of internal monolog as you mentioned. Great stuff. I'm learning a lot from your channel.

Hi Kent, just like to say congratulations with all your success. I’ve started watching your videos on KZbin and been super inspired by them. I’ve always wanted to be a filmmaker since I was young and never been able to start filming. I now really want to start making films cause it’s always been a dream of mine. I’m going to start with by using my iPhone 13 pro and shoot with cinematic mode. I’ve been learning a lot with your videos so thank you very much for all that you share, and maybe one day I can share with you a film that I will have done.

To be honest, i really hate these kind of movies. It feels so gimicky and doesen't even allow you to immerse yourself in the first place. Its also really distracting and i don't think that this concept works at all, for a feature film. Maybe in a single scene, but not for an entire movie. With that being said, the creative process was still interesting to watch.
@StandardStoryCo

I was skeptical having never seen one of these movies, but after watching Searching and Missing back to back… good storytelling is good storytelling, I thought they were both great and as a viewer you adapt quickly to the style so it doesn’t feel like a gimmick. My 2 cents!
Youtube will BURY your films without this.
