Your little junk journal is so cute! I could never get bored with seeing what other countries are like. When my cousin and her husband lived in Japan she told us a lot of stories about what it's like there. Anything you have to share would be a treasure. I've been writing about the virus in my journal. Things I hear day to day. We are living in very unusual times. It's the perfect opportunity to write about your observations. I hope you and your family stay well and stay safe.

This is a great distraction so thank you. I live in California with my husband and dog. We’ve been working from home for three going on four weeks. Blessed to still have our jobs for now. I pray all who read this are healthy and are physical distancing as much as possible. My Hobonichi planning has slowed but the daily journal pages are helping me record this time.

Mits - I love this junk journal idea! Using the box, including one of the flaps for a pocket, is a brilliant idea! And, it looks so easy - something that I will definitely try. Future videos - I'd love to see how you made your candy bag ephemera pouch and video of daily life in Japan. Thanks for the chatty videos and the chance to see you while you share with us.

This turned out so nice, the papers and things are thinner so that good, so many papers are so thick like card stock. So happy to see you in this! Yes I am in the U.S. so yes, very unusual times, I have been staying in for 4 weeks now, trying to be careful and go out when it's necessary for shopping. I never wished for time to move more quickly than now. I am doing catch up on videos and I am to your latest after this one. Stay well.

I was just thinking about creating a junk journal in an old hardcover. I'd love to see you attempt that! I adored this video, thank you Mitts for always being such a calming voice. I value your generous nature and your tone of voice is incredibly comforting- I've always enjoyed your videos after getting home from teaching middle school; now they are even more precious! Thank you for continuing to create content even as you adjust to a new normal. I appreciate you!!!

Hi Mits! This DIY is very doable! I haven’t attempted a junk journal in about a couple of years, just because I wasn’t sure what I was doing or what I was going to use it for. I don’t seem to keep enough papers around to add to or create a journal. I do have to say that this creation is wonderful and a GREAT example of repurposing something that could have been thrown out. I do agree that watching vlogs about other countries and how others live is quite interesting. It’s something about watching how another culture or even country handles day to day tasks. In regards to the virus, I am currently optimistic but cautious. My hubby and I try to go out for groceries every 2 wks, just to make sure that we are not exposing ourselves to whatever is out there. We have both commented on how eerie the streets of Houston, TX are and comment on how much ppl are still not following guidelines. We both work from home, so the majority of our week, we are in the house anyway, which makes it easy to stay home. I do however miss hanging out with friends and FaceTime or Zoom just barely puts a bandage on a gaping wound. We work diligently to stay as healthy as possible not only for ourselves, but for our friends and families, so that we can hopefully see them again. Anyway, thank you as always for producing videos, no matter the topic. Are you going to get back to sewing papers? I know at one point that was a satisfying hobby for you and I had secretly hoped you would have continued and included them in your stationery boxes.

Thank you for sharing how Japan is dealing with COVID 19. I wouldn't mind hearing more. Here in CA, USA, we are on social distancing.It's recommended that people remain 6feet apart in public and no social gatherings. In the US every state varies. We only go out once a week for groceries.

Questions for future videos: Tell us more about the packaging and advertising in Japan. How is it different to Canada? What’s a typical day like and what sorts of ‘junk’ might you collect or save throughout the day that’s useful to journal with? What is paper like in Japan-are there lots of different types? How are they different from each other? What about the stamps and postcards/writing sets? What’s the school system like in Japan? What are the national holidays and why are they celebrated? Can we see some of your other handmade journals?

Hi Mits, just to say it, in Germany many companys like the „nursing home for old people“ i am working for still use fax machines. It ist way faster to send like orderings for medicines to the pharmacy 😅 especially if they need the receipt of the doctor before they can send us the meds.
@MyLifeMits4 жыл бұрын
Ahhhh! That makes total sense! I guess the fax machine is still very useful and is a necessity :) Thanks for watching!

Oh boy...I am a horrible, horrible cook lol My husband is a lot better. I cook, but only because I have to (for my kids lol) I don't tend to follow recipes either and just 'go with the flow', which is not always the best haha

Also next time you need a snack (one of those strawberry sandwiches🤩. Topic for discussion...do you speak English even when you are out and about?

Hello Mits, thank you for this. I am going to try the no sew method. I recently (finally) put together a junk (? Not a true junk journal. Not sure what else to call it) journal for all the ticket stubs, maps, etc., I kept from a trip I took ages ago and nearly derailed the entire project when the holes I punched in the spine were misaligned. EEK! I finished sewing in the signatures yesterday and today I plan to add more to the inside, I know there is a strip of photo booth snaps somewhere in the house and one or two full size photos. Also, I'm thinking of removing pages from the travel journal I wrote in it the time and somehow adding them into this one. I can't decide if I want to carefully remove entire pages, which are bigger than this new journal, and fold them/put them in a pocket, or cut passages and glue those onto pages that correspond with the items on the page. Hmmmm. Also, I enjoyed this and am looking for a granola box so my young teen can make something as well. Best regards, Jessica

Hi Jessica, it sounds like you have several nice ideas floating around in your head :) I hope you have fun with it !! I think that is so neat that your young teen can also participate with the journal making process as well :) Thank you for watching!

This is really cool! How often do you make junk journals? I know that you’ve also purchased some junk journals from other creators too so can you also tell me how long it takes to fill a junk journal on average (I know that different junk journals have different amounts of paper per insert). Love watching your process and hearing your giggle. ☺️ stay safe and healthy during this pandemic and keep those vids coming. It helps me know that your doing okay. 👍🏼
