Bro i learn so much valuable insight on yall's podcast. yall have unlocked a different type of beast in me. There's so much to the music/content creator/marketing/branding journey that people consistently overlook. Most people take what y'all know, and gatekeep that type of knowledge from artist trying to make a way. i wish you guys started this way sooner! it would have probably saved us from alot of the difficulties we face as independent and self sufficient artist artist this day in age. the things i could have done with this information years ago! keep doing what yall are doing. yall are going to shift the game so much within the next year!

Let me give you a quick music history lesson. Back in the days of classical music musicians where highly respected and coveted. Nowadays we take advantage of the abundance of music that's all around us. Back then, people got most of their entertainment from books. They only heard music at concerts or parties. These events were always sold out. Even hearing someone play a violin solo was everything. Rich would higher pianist or whatever for dinner parties. Popular musicians also sold sheet music. So yeah. Being a musician in the days of Mozart got you paid.
@BrandmanNetwork
@BrandmanNetwork Жыл бұрын
Nah. Being rich because of your music or any art way back then wasn't a normal thing. SOME got along well but no one was making Drake/Taylor Swift/etc money. The economics of the time didn't even allow for it
@jammawun
@jammawun Жыл бұрын
@@BrandmanNetwork I never said anything about any one being rich. I was explaining the value of music back then and how musicians made a living. That's all.

I typed damn near an essay lol so to preface: this isn’t like a “canceled” shit lol I’m just sharing my thoughts on Kyrie being punished The documentary Kyrie shared literally states the Holocaust is fake and as a Jewish person, thats not fucking cool. That being said, the whole demands thing was a dumb counter. You don’t fight ignorance with punishment, people don’t learn through punishment, you fight ignorance through just helping them. As a jewish person what I would’ve done, because some criticism are right and yeah jewish people can be just as racist toward black people as whire folks can. Lets have the Anti-defamation league work together, donate some funds to opening a black awareness museum next to the Holocaust museum. Historically the same group of people hates both of us, let’s work together in healing. Kyrie thinks people care more about antisemitism than racism? He’s right. Lets take leaders in the jewish community and force solidarity with modern black issues. And then through that teach about the ignorance. Everyone knows about the Holocaust, what they don’t know is Jews were in the same ghettos as black folks. The reason why there are so many Jewish production teams and manager in hip hop is because white owned labels wouldn’t work with black artists but jewish labels would. People know about when Jews were enslaved in Egypt what they don’t know is until 2014 it was ILLEGAL to be jewish in several countries. Or in Europe from tje 500s to the 1400s Jews werent allowed in cities so we had to make our own communities and that’s why to this day we stick together
@BrandmanNetwork
@BrandmanNetwork Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing these thoughts. It really adds to the perspective and conversation in a productive way that isn't happening in most of the outlets I've seen. "You don’t fight ignorance with punishment"...agreed...unless you don't truly care for a solution. It's hard to create fear and understanding at the same time.

I think what 21 savage said about Nas was valid to an extent. To me what he was saying was that Nas isn't relevant is the modern hiphop scene.. no one in the younger generation is really paying attention to Nas new music. But Nas has a strong fan base from the older gen, so we're still checking for his music and we still listen when he drops... I think that's a valid perspective

Sean you said Kanye is big enough to maybe do this or that or get out of whatever whatever but I wanna say 2 things 1: He is big yes, but hes still just one guy right 2: if you're gonna launch an attack of any kind (not taking sides on any of what he actually said) you need strategy. he went out & said whatever he said about George Floyd at the same time, that was dumb if he actually had intentions of starting some battle, which clearly he did exasperate a battle because look at the other stuff going on like the NBA and yada yada not taking any sides just strictly from a strategic standpoint people talk about everything he does is so planned out & I do believe he believes that but that doesnt mean it's good plans or that he sticks to them well. you can only fight 1 big battle at a time especially when you're going against giants
@BrandmanNetwork
@BrandmanNetwork Жыл бұрын
I'd agree with not doing more than 1 big battle at a time. Also as you said, just because something was planned doesn't mean it was a good idea or it remained the same.

The political thing is more so due to people as a whole become more conscious of capital as a whole. I dont think people care more about what something represents rather than its quality but more so its another factor. We are now more concerned with where our money goes and what is done with it after purchase. Like if you have strong opinion on abortion it feels weird to then know that the money you spent on some product was then donated to which ever side you dont agree it. It feels like implicit support when you purchase from someone who has opposite beliefs to you, so now more and more consumers want the piece of mind that they arent indirectly funding things they strongly disagree with.
@BrandmanNetwork
@BrandmanNetwork Жыл бұрын
You ultimately went back to exactly what I said though. I was being a little sarcastic when I said people don’t care about quality…yes they “care” however who they are supporting has become an even higher priority for many. And the thing is, product quality is something that can be generally agreed on but there’s no two people that 100% agree. So sure people can have their personal justifications for not supporting something- and have the right to do so, but the impact of that happening in mass is clear.
