It's a great thing to do and should hopefully provide a good habitat for lots of wildlife.

Great use for the branches. I used Buddleia branches for starting a dry hedge. Use them as stakes and then fill in with other dry cuttings from your garden to weave in between the stakes. Well established now.

That sounds great! Do you plant climbers around it to give it greenery?

@@GregsWildlife mine has ivy covering it now I still add to the top of the pile it’s at the far end of my garden and wrens use it a lot.

Great stuff Greg. We've got a motley collection of wood under our Weigela bush. It never occurred to me that some of it might be "the wrong sort of wood"! The woodcutter clip really made me chuckle! 😆😆 The up-cycling of the budleia sticks was a good idea! Definite thumbs-up from me on this one. Great! 👍🙂👍

Thank you! It didn't occur to me either at first, but then I realised that wood is food to things like beetles and they have their preferences. I think most native wood would be fine, but buddleia is no good. I have no idea what you found funny about the chopping wood bit, it was just a perfectly normal clip of me chopping wood...
