Creating a Long Perennial Border | Designing a Colourful Planting Scheme | Re-Designing a Border

In this video we discuss and show you one of our past planting designs which involved the re-design of a long sloping border. This was one of our favourite projects to work on due to the scale of the border and the plants we chose to use.

Wow, what a stunning garden and even more so after your hard work. It can't have been easy digging up those established shrubs. I'm sure that the owner was delighted with the end result. You've definitely followed the brief of colour and it must've been nice buying plants when money is no object. You two are definitely the kings of perennial planting and I can tell that you both put in the same love and care as you do in your own garden. Hope you both have a wonderful weekend. They seem to come around fast now that I've retired but I remember the days when they didn't come soon enough! Lots of love. xxx

Thanks so much Wendy. The shrubs took it out of us, the hardest was the phormium as it was so deeply rooted. The owner was delighted with it and we were so happy to be able to bring this border back to life for him. We did work on all of the borders in this garden so they'll be more videos like this to come amd some from other designs we have done. It's certainly good to go plant shopping without spending any of our own money! We just adore perennials as you can see. We enjoyed caring for this garden just as much as designing and planting the plants. At the time we only had a courtyard garden where we grew everything in pots, so it was such a blessing to go to other gardens and have contact with actual soil and borders. Have a good weekend too, hope we can get out and enjoy the garden after the rain this evening. Xxx

With so many mature shrubs and conifers, it was fascinating to see your thought process in action. Beautiful rhythm throughout the design. Love the different heights, textures, and colors. You both achieved what we all dream of in this garden! Bravo!

Thanks so much, this was a very special garden to us because we were given free reign and could really try out new ideas. It really flourished in it's first year but the following ones would have been even better when everything filled out more. We kept a few of the shrubs in but cut them back so they could be kept in proportion to the perennials. Thanks again 🙏 💛
