Setting up a recording studio is always a "Work in Progress". I have been recording for over 45 years and every studio set-up would be revamped 3 to 6 times before I am mostly happy with the workflow. It is getting the workflow to feel right, the office chair to be at the right height, and the patch bay makes setting up a session or mixing down a song flow without stoppage. You want the setup to be accurate, have a professional vibe with clients, and ensure you're not wasting time because of problems. Some of the nice things are a microphone closet, a cable area with hooks, patch bay with all the outboard gear labeled, a functioning headphone setup that everyone can hear what is being recorded, and a snake that feeds all the microphones to your input section. You want the setup to be comfortable with no problems so that you can concentrate on creating music, experimenting with instruments, a great speaker playback system, absolutely no feedback and the freedom and the challenge of making great music. Simple Right?
