Why the irish hole is concave?

It creates a physical shadow that reads as an iris even without any texture. Also...technically speaking the iris IS concave. It is the lens that sticks out from the surface of the eye making it look round.

There is no right or wrong...only what looks good to you and works for your needs. This is just one approach of many :)
