Creating a quick Unreal Engine 4 Futuristic City scene

Quick scene I put together in Unreal Engine 4. Scene took me a little over 3 hours from start to finish.
I did NOT create the actual art assets used in this video, they were created entirely by Epic Games.
All music in the video is from the EVE Online soundtrack.

Yepp! I regret all the time and effort i wasted on CryEngine 3... I mean CE3 has a superb renderer and powerful level editor, but a kinda awkward workflow. unity engine on the other hand has a fluid workflow but the renderer sucks

v00d00xtr3m3 I know right, they just did everything so amazing even their launch their pricing, and they give you not just the editor but the source too, the tons of expert video support, there has never been a launch of something ive seen thats exceeded my expectations like this one

As it may be, its no always about the 'Game Engine' you can still make amazing looking games with UE3 (even though it was never the best 'Scripting /or/ coding' interface), Its always down to the Environment Artists, Modelers and so on.

apostolis anastasiou Good game engines cut down on the cost of game development dramatically.
@evilmrfrank
@evilmrfrank 9 жыл бұрын
apostolis anastasiou I never said it would drop the prices that much. Simply that the difference between a company using an engine like UE4 and another engine that has a poor workflow or other issues can be a significant difference in terms of cost. I think we will always see games that cost 500 million and going forward games that cost even more than that.
@evilmrfrank
@evilmrfrank 9 жыл бұрын
***** It is not misinformed... What you are saying is correct but I think your misunderstanding what I am saying. The only caveat is that companies who do not license other engines will likely be spending millions on making a AAA game engine from the ground up. 1. If you don't license an already made game engine it will cost a ton of money for a studio to create one themselves from scratch. 2. Having a well made engine WILL make an absolutely huge difference in terms of costs on a project, even making the move from UE3 to UE4 will dramatically drop the costs of a project. I am not saying this from my opinion, I have seen it first hand. 3. I am not saying that development costs will be low because you have a good engine, only that picking the right engine for your game WILL drop the overall price of the development of your game significantly. Of course developers are where a large amount of the money goes to, and of course games will cost millions of dollars no matter how good your engine is.

evilmrfrank it is possible to make a triple a game with only 15 people , with the right euipment and talent , it can be done . it will take longer , but if the passion exist the game itself will exist . i say less than $30,000 and some deal to split the profit when it is finished .

Hey, I watched a couple of your unreal engine videos, I'm an amateur sci fi writer, I'd like to know if I can teach this tool to myself in order to visualize some of the concepts in my universe. That would be very helpful. What are the boundaries of unreal engine ? Instead of sceneries, can we make things in space for example? a space station in orbit? And how difficult is it to learn unreal engine? Cordially
@evilmrfrank
@evilmrfrank 7 жыл бұрын
Anyone can learn it, its not especially easy to learn, more just time consuming as it is a very complicated piece of software. So most of it really comes down to your desire to learn :) As for what you can make, you can literally make anything you could imagine if you have the skills to pull it off
