Deivid, you may be planting things a bit deep at times. Rule of thumb is to plant pretty much at the same depth as what the plant comes in. Roots need to be in the soil, but stems and branches may rot under ground.

I would like to suggest something please. When you plant any thing in the ground or transplant trees bushes-my mom always taught us to pour water in the hole and let it sit for a minute before we plant- so that the plant roots would actually grow downward to find water. I hope that it will work for you also Love that you share your adventures with us.

If you have any willow growing on your land or you can source it from somewhere near you you could also build some" living fences" for your secret garden. It's not hard but takes a little bit of care to get started. The results are very beautiful. 💕

You are right to plan to build over time. Your ideas are extensive and well-thought-out, with the almost hidden entrance to create interest and mystery. The idea of a green and productive plants climbing over the fences can enhance the whole scheme. Because of the huge scale of the task, it will take time to mature. There will be many chances to be inventive as you build level, plant and adapt your ideas, so I can foresee many interesting new videos to come.

Hi guys, love the natural fencing. Wild or cultivated black berries will grow up and cover any metal fencing. After the Berry harvest trim back to a manageable shape.Secret garden,wild and pretty. The birds will love it. Have logs by the waters edge to encourage frogs,who eat slugs and are a food source for the stork too. Later stock the pond with roach etc. With a reed bed at the far side, water irises, the ideas are endless. Stay safe.

Great job guys, I'm sure it's going to look beautiful, only thing I will say is be careful not to fill in the stream it's probably helping drain water from the rest of the land into the lake, especially with the trouble you had with flooding last winter
@DoBeDiff2 жыл бұрын
The ditch has been closed for many years and lake has overflow on the other side. We digged some ditches to release the extra water into the lake not from the lake. We need to solve the drainage problem before Atumn.

I see that you have a lot of space behind your house that needs to have the grass cut/eaten. They make an electric net fence they come in different sizes. For goats 🐐 I see them use 4 feet high by 50-100 feet long. Because it is a portable flexible fence u can shape it anyway u want. It would help u in many ways to have this electric enclosure so You don’t have to do the work. extra benefit u can feed the goats for free. Probably 2 goats 🐐🐐at a time.

If I can suggest something for your secret garden, glory flowers, they grow superfast, they stay beautiful till late september at least and their vines are easy to clean. I had them last year on a small garden arch, growing them again this year all along the fence, they’re so pretty.
@cepearle70722 жыл бұрын
Morning glories are beautiful, but are toxic to dogs. Not sure about cats and or poultry. Please be sure to look up toxicity of any plants for your babies sakes. Your garden is going to be gorgeous and uniquely to both of you. Second note: look into using prayer flags or pennants or some sort to hang to help deter animals coming or going to and from the gardens.
@minime73752 жыл бұрын
@@cepearle7072 I didn’t know that. I have 2 dogs and 15 cats, none seem to have an issue with those plants? They don’t eat them though, sometimes one of the dogs “fertilizes” them🙂

During the year you will learn so much. Monty don is leading gardners world. A Uk programm from BBC with have been on air for 55 years aprox. You will learn a lot about sowing, prickling, soil, weeds, fertilizing. Everything you two need so much to learn. You will find a lot of inspiration for your kitchen garden and your secret garden. Monty don is not a channel in here. It is uploded after broadcast here. But just search his name or gardners world. Garden anbswer pops up imidiately. I love the fence. We did something very similar just a few weeks ago. Well actually the same time as you. Funny. :D Wines for the fences and portals Clematis, wisteria and honesuckle. Everyone is stuuuuuunning. Bt read up on how big they get. Once you fix your house a wisteria around the entrance would be extremely pretty. :)
