A terrarium with carnivorous plants is beautiful. I have lots of them at home. I also grew the graminifolia when it emerged, and it makes beautiful flowers. The only thing that doesn't suit us is Sarracenia, which is a cold outdoor plant.

How do you feed the plant for enclosed spaces? Do you manual feed or just open the lid on top?

How do you feed the carnivorous plants
@nivid_jr11 ай бұрын
I have carnivorous plants and you actually don’t need to hand feed them with bugs as some people think. They either eat whatever insect climbs in their mouth or they just don’t eat insects and bugs. It’s not exactly necessary to eat bugs in their diet, although it does give them some nutrients. After all, they are still plants that do photosynthesis to get energy.

@nivid_jr29 күн бұрын
@@jagernautsteelfist3648 You just dont feed them flies, they are plants and get most if not all of their energy from photosynthesis.

Hi, I plan to replicate your setup. Does springtails and isopods work here? I also could not find black peat in my country. What do I replace it with?😢

Great scape! But I noticed you putting in pumice stone at the very bottom, doesn't that isolate the textile fabric from transporting water up to the scape from the water reservoir below? I'd be a bit worried of the water not getting into the scape and starting to rot at some point. Or does the pumice stone suck water up as well?
@gOOLY11 ай бұрын
Stunning scape as always, unfortunately the Oase biOrb looks a bit too plasticky for my taste.
@Hellacop611 ай бұрын
Not to mention the ridiculous pricetag right.
@GreenAquaShop11 ай бұрын
A matter of taste though. You can indeed scratch the plastic though, easily, if you're not very very careful. The price? Well, it is steep, but if you would want to do the whole thing from quality parts, you would be around the same. Or so I heard, never did that myself.

So, did you paint the plastic? You built in a white one and showed off a dark one. Also, care and maintenance question, what do you feed them? Gnats/flys/mosquitos?
@GreenAquaShop11 ай бұрын
It's just the camera... The last shots are in the dark. All cats are dark at night, LOL. These plants will survive without feeding them insects.

Is there a special reason for not using the included cocos-substrate? Is it not also a good substrate for these plants?
@GreenAquaShop11 ай бұрын
It is a good substrate, but with these plants we preferred this setup.

Do any of those plants need an "over winter dormant" period to keep healthy?
@ekmekthefig11 ай бұрын
The Sarracenia will need dormancy, the others should be okay
@GreenAquaShop11 ай бұрын
You are right. The North American pitcher by default comes from the climate zone 7 to 10 ( some species go till 11 on the hardiness scale but they are quite rare). On the contrary, some specimens of the species coming from Florida, also some cultivars, like the one we used here, actually enjoy the environment the Biorb creates. So yes, most of them need outdoor cold in winter. Still, you can grow Sarraceniaceae in these conditions if you have the right airflow, and it is not a necessity for some hybrids to have a fluctuation in temperature throughout the year. (In my professional opinion.)

@@GreenAquaShop i heard it wasn’t even reliable in long term use , I would love Oase to put more money in the development than in the communication and sponsoring , I think some products definitely needs some upgrade at this price point :) just my 2 cents, peace

Yeah, well, all new products must have their own early issues, but we found that this is pretty reliable - many of these have been working fine in our Gallery, and at clients, but we had a couple of problems, all solved within the warranty program.
