Can Errant World be used in production build for generating random maps for every player where developer writes a code that generates a random mask and uses Errant World API to fill those masked regions with biomes at runtime?
@errantphoton
@errantphoton Жыл бұрын
We do have an API, but most of the functions will only work in Editor. In the future we will look into generation as part of a game, but for now we focus on in-editor experience.

Haven't found any information on manually painting weightmaps aside from the paint brush that is still in development. Would it be possible to adjust the landscape in typical UE fashion after all of the brushes were placed?
@errantphoton
@errantphoton Жыл бұрын
You can use all the existing tools in Unreal for that, by painting/sculpting on another Edit Layer. The only reason we want to add the Paint Brush is so that you could move that painted region together with a mountain/valley.

does the landscape mesh support nanite? i was blown away by nanite landscapes.
@errantphoton
@errantphoton Жыл бұрын
This is the standard Landscape edited non-destructively with our tools. So yes, you can convert it to Nanite after edition.

Does this work with something like fluid flux so the flora reacts to player and ground can be deform like steps?

The tools are mostly offline, but we are currently looking into in-game landscape editing. Over time we would like to add support for in-game editing to all of our plugins.

What controls the spawn distance at the end? I noticed trees and plants popping in as the camera traveled. Can that be fixed?
@errantphoton
@errantphoton 3 ай бұрын
Cull start/end distance and draw distance are what controls spawning distance. They pop here because we didn't configure fade in/out in the material for the instances in this scene.

Yes, we do have one such tutorial in the making. We should get it done within the next month. We also have 3 Errant Biomes tutorials for on our channel.

If I use this plugin to make my world, then load the world into a different project will I have to have this plugin enabled in the other project?
@errantphoton
@errantphoton 4 ай бұрын
We answered on Discord, but I will put the answer here as well: No, you just need to avoid using our classes in one or two places. If you use Unreal's classes instead, the scenes will load correctly without the plugins.

an extra 100 dollars for the source code? why is it not included?
@errantphoton
@errantphoton Жыл бұрын
It is included at the full price or in Studio version. And later we added a version with no source code at a lower price. This is simply a segmentation approach. Those who don't need the source code (majority of our customers) can benefit from the lower price. I will also add that sharing source code comes with many risks for us. Higher price helps us to balance that risk.

Recorded on a laptop with RTX 3080Ti. The tools don't have any specific hardware requirement, but the more VRAM you have the better.

@errantphoton
@errantphoton Жыл бұрын
@@sightedits 4 GB of VRAM will be quite limiting in UE5. You can live with that, but you will need to work on smaller parts of the world at a time. This will make working on larger worlds a bit frustrating at times. But give it a try!

@@errantphoton with this current hardware is it better to work on traditional 3d software or is it work making a shift to unreal , ( for landscape renders)
@errantphoton
@errantphoton Жыл бұрын
@@sightedits I would still go to Unreal. You can start learning it and eventually replace the GPU to be able to do larger scenes. But it's best to start as early as possible.

@spacepirate9882

@@errantphoton I just realized that this is because of "edit layers". Enabling it make any edit really laggy and disabling it makes any edit instantly fast again.
@errantphoton
@errantphoton Жыл бұрын
@@spacepirate9882 I would prefer to know more about your scene. You are supposed to have Edit Layers enabled. But maybe you use Landmass/Water at the same time or sth else that kills the performance. I'm also curious about your GPU, the version of Stamp Library that you use. But let's continue this discussion on Discord. It will be easier.
