Glad you showed us the process, so many of us think that a location is a magical perfect place that one stumbles upon but like you showed us many times is up to us to change the perspective and angles we look at it to make it the perfect location or make it work. Thank you Pye Jirsa for sharing so much through this channel!

I liked this a lot but do have one caveat. I loved the last two photos much better before the "corrected" version was shown. The softer overblown look was much more appealing than the harsh contrast look. But I must admit, that is a simply a personal opinion. Keep up the good work, I love the tutorials.

Wow Pye, what a great video! I would’ve looked straight past a parking lot, that’s a great challenge and awesome tips, keep them coming please!

Thanks so much for the help. As a newbie hearing your thought processes as you work through them is so helpful. I'm really trying to get to shooting in complete manual but it's been challenging for me..haha.

nice tuto. how can you focus in liveview and stay stable ? i have a d750 and see nothing with reflections, sun,... do you tune your liveview to show exposure or to have some contrast ? Which kind of ND filter do you use on your 24mm art, 85mm at (D=86mm), 105mm art (D=105mm). in your lighting 101 course you advised 5 stops sing ray 300usd 82mm but these new lens are much bigger and Lee holder are quite expensive. I am also looking for a step up 67-86mm to use 86mm ND filter on 35mm art. 86mm is really not standard.

from the images you’ve shown at the end, it seems you did not use that handheld piece of grass on the right side of the frame.

Your videos are excellent... thanks for sharing your process. It shows that few photographers just show up and take the first shot... then leave. haha. You gotta work the scene.

For portraiture, do prefer the 105 vs the 85mm lens and why?

Hi Pyle: how do you get so much in focus at 1.4? I can barely get two people in focus at 2.0. So I use my 24mm at hyperfocal but that only helps with light and not dof

Distance. And obviously, if you'd zoom in, not everything of them would be in perfect focus

Question - how do you decide on which preset you will use from pastel or crush or modern on the hard light
@slrlounge4 жыл бұрын
Alot of it depends on overall feel of the image + what the couple desires. This image has a bit more vibrancy because of the colors she is wearing + the scene palette in general, so I think Modern or Crush would be out best options. If her dress was a bit lighter in tone then I think Pastel would have worked great.

Though you really didn't use the parking lot in the final shots, you worked the location. Proof gear by itself doesn't solve every problem.

Pye...why don't you shoot in portrait orientation?
