Creating Dorothy- How Never Giving Up Can Result in Some of Your Best Work- Cinematic Photography

Ever feel like giving up photography? Do setbacks set you down permanently? Join Jason Lanier for a video where he perseveres through a setback to create some breathtaking work as he exemplifies the definition of never giving up.
This shoot was conducted in Belle Glades, Florida on the side of a road in a sugar cane field. This was an unplanned shoot that had to be created on the fly due to Jason and his team getting thrown out of their original shoot location.
In this video Jason uses the Rotolight Titan X1 in flash mode with the Elinchrom Skyport Transmitter to create some movie like imagery with the models named Maddi and Nicole. This was shot using the Sony A9 with the 35mm Sony Zeiss lens.

Love the fantastic and well exposed sky and the effect of the light on the model. I was wondering if the AEOS could work in those conditions (pretty sure the Neo would not be powerful enough) or the Titan is the only way. Best

Because I do not have anyone to assist me on outdoor shoots, I have to carry all my gear including a light. I have found that the most compact setup I can use almost anywhere is a standard flash mounted on a stand or tripod with a Gary Fong defuser or a Gary Fong snoot on the flash

Do you want home to show you everything he does. See some of the results from the back of the camera when he is being recorded and you will see how his lighting has captured the results. It is not all post processing. Some is ie Holy Bible at very least.

Its a LED that also can function as a flash. BUT you have to think a bit different in the way you think when working with LED's, especially outside. Im sure Jason have a video or two explaining the difference :)

@@nohc4 Have used them a lot. They give amazing light in both video and on stills! If you so both, its a good investement. But if you only do stills, I think flashes are easier and cheaper to use! And as I said, if you decide to go this route, you cant use them 100% the same way as normal flashes, but learning curve is quick! You can have a lot more fun with these 😃

I didn't get it. Yes, the photos are really very atmospheric and the willingness to make the most of the situation is also good. But. If the sugarcane scene was spontaneous, then it is not clear for me what industry these shots are intended for, if there was no customer. Just for yourself?
