For my limited stuff I can't justify the huge scrim jim but I love using my 4x6. You are doing your followers a great service by suggesting diffusers.

Hey Jason can you please explain why you used the flash even after using two reflectors. Timeline was roughly about 18:37, was there not enough light. I only ask because it seem like the two reflectors were just pouring the model with light, or was it just one of those things that the video didn't depict how dark it was in this particular spot.

I wish people understood that it takes time to work with a given location. "Not enough light, problem solve." Loved that. Unfortunately, you only have a short period to problem solve at magic hour. I once did a shoot where they kept asking why it took so long. I had asked them to bring people who could carry reflectors, they brought one relative who could barely walk. Whenever I tried to take a photo with a reflector up, they'd tell him to get out of the shot, and he'd move, and I'd have to start all over. Since it was only day 2 for me of a 4 day shoot (the first day I got familiar with light and weather reports), I took it in stride. I sat them down later, told them to either shut up or don't show up, and they opted to leave me to the shoot with no help. I had to improvise the reflectors but I got way better shots.

Who's the blond directing Jason to specific backdrops wanted/needed for the next session? I ask because I assisted a ton of major shoots in the 80's....and THE PHOTOGRAPHER always had say on the backgrounds; it's THEIR shot. It's the client's shoot. There's a difference. My guess is she is the owner/designer- Not an art director, and a control freak. I'm shocked she didn't demand a tethered experience, w/ Lanier dragging a laptop out to the beach. Jason- as per usual, AMAZING imagery.

Hi Jason, this is Australia calling, with the Flashpoint were you shooting manual at half power and was it on HSS, or were you using TTL. Also can you let me know what your camera settings are, ISO, SS and Apature and are you shooting in Manual mode? These images are awesome, I love watching your videos, as I learn heaps from them please keep them coming thank you :)

Thanks Jason for the kind swift reply, I assumed wrongly it was TTL due to the speed you were shooting in the video. Thanks again
@deltafit8 жыл бұрын
Just the question I was about to ask. The speed at which he's shooting and moving the flash around in different positions seemingly not touching the trigger/settings also told me it was in TTL
@ProductionArtVideo8 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly, Jason never shoots TTL. With all the experience, he's just automatic.

I like your weight loss, the setting, diffuse light but not loving the shoots in this one as they look like artificially lighted shots at the beach. And I can take a honey here and there, no problem with swagger, but seems a bit on the jerky side the amount you're doing in this.
@spencediggz18 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the highlights on the left side of her face? I like'em. The "honey" stuff, I think we've been thru this before. He has a good rapport with with people he works with, hence the continuous workshops he gives. Cut Jason some slack.

Jason, I'm no prude, but I watch a ton of your videos and cringe when you say some of the things you say because I don't sensor what I watch in front of my kiddos.
