13 years of Photoshop for me. And I keep watching tutorials, but I often think they're useless (to me), that I have a better way to do this or that. Sometimes I even shout at the monitor "WHY YOU DO THAT IN THAT WAY!?". Well, this channel makes me feel stupid. And bad at Ps. This software is famous for having 100 ways to do the same thing, here I see the 101st way, and it's often mindblowing. I even started putting the thumbs up before I watch the video.

You can also apply the halftone pattern fill in hard-mix blend mode to a full-color graphic layer and it will create interlocking halftone patterns in 6-hues with black+white. I use the same techniques to generate live-halftoned color separations from graphics, and it is amazing what can be done when you start playing around with all the variables... especially for artistic effects like you've shown when warping the halftones, polar distortions, textures, etc.. you're getting into some deep-level stuff here and it is great! It can get a little intense with processing resources when trying to do these effects for printing purposes at like 1200 dpi and to try and get the halftone patterns to resolve accurately, but it is extremely powerful as an approach - it creates interlocking halftones of colors which are not easily done through other processes, and it is a live-effect so you can adjust the artwork and see what you're getting with the halftones. It really seems like magic... but basically what happens when you apply to a full-color layer is that the halftone is being applied to each RGB channel separately, and they happen to convert to dots that overlap to make the right colors... try applying the hard-mix halftone pattern over a color graphic, you'll see each channel has become halftoned and then where they blend together creates the additional colors of dots. You're really doing a great service to the community by sharing your knowledge and experience and techniques, so fun and inspiring!
@Texturelabs3 жыл бұрын
Ah I see that you also see the matrix! For sure... I keep coming back to that hard mix blending mode for everything - same as posterize and threshold combined but with more control. But wow, 1200 dpi is pretty gnarly!

Scaling was always a pain with halftones, I like how this method is adjustable. That Bigfoot poster design is tight. Like most of these things, the effects are cool but having a solid image to apply them to is key.
