Hi, thanks for the information. You added preservative to the water part but none to the lipids. Since they separate from each other, I wonder how the preservative in the water part works on the lipids.

Great information. Thank you so much! I was curious why you choose poly 20 over poly 80 and if it makes a difference..
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 7 жыл бұрын
I personally find polysorbate 20 to work as the best solubilising agent - and that is really what you want - solubilised lipids and make up for good cleansing results. You could prepare samples with both and see which you prefer. I hope this helps.

You may give decyl glucoside a go :) PH of the overall system and the concentration of decyl glucoside might decide how translucent the final product is.

Hmmm this is why i always choosed the DOUBLE METHOD CLEANSING at night with : CLEANSING MILK + First MICELLAR water & CLEANSING GEL .. These were the best way to removed make up & dirt on my face. But with the First MICELLAR WATER, I use a Caprylic trigliceride & sodium lactate .. those can be the subtitute ingrediants, right ??
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 4 жыл бұрын
You'd need a volatile lipid in place of the caprylic/capric triglycerides otherwise it will feel very heavy/greasy. I have an organic micellar water with this option coming out this friday, please subscribe to be notified when its released! Happy formulating!

In the two-phase you mentioned the large amt of volatile silicone and also the lipid. Would one be able to use Cyclomethicone and a light wgt plant oil with a long shelf life?
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 7 жыл бұрын
Just remember the more 'weighty' the plant oil, the more residue the consumer will feel on their skin after wash off. There is no solubiliser in this formula, so it relies on the volatile silicone to evaporate excess lipid from the skin so it doesn't leave oily residue. If you are going to add a plant oil then make sure you prepare samples and trial it to get the residual skin feel right.

Which type of the 2 micellar water is more suitable for Mineral type sunscreen removal? No make up but just daily serum+ cream + sunscreen + may reapply 1-2 times more sunscreen if I am under the sun for long hours.
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 6 жыл бұрын
Hi, it depends on if the product is oil based (ie w/o emulsion) or water based (o/w emulsion). Many sunscreens are w/o emulsions, so they take the two phase product to remove. You can find out if a product is oil or water based by adding half a teaspoon to a cup of water and stirring - if it disperses easily and turns the water milky, it is a water based emulsion (o/w); but if it sticks in clumps or drops in the water (ie clumps rather than smooth and milky looking) then it is oil based (w/o). Hope this helps.

Where do I purchase EDTA???
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 6 жыл бұрын
You'll need to contact your local supplier for that type of material. Many small soap suppliers or craft suppliers will have EDTA or contact the larger chemical suppliers for bulk purchases. It is region specific so you'll need to find local chemical suppliers or if purchasing for home crafting, there are lots of small soap suppliers that could supply this for you - try online. If you are a student with us we can provide you with links but not to general public. Happy formulating!
