I love that your mom and dad are helping video ♥️ Kudos to them! I'm in Rogers Co and used the landscape fabric for my watermelon last year. It worked great.

I use drip tape in my vegetable gardens but never have used landscape fabric but thinking about using it because it's difficult to keep up with the weeds. One garden is a wood chip garden but it's still has it's own weed pressure. Do you intend on leaving the landscape fabric down year round or removing it and replacing with the silage tarp? Did you get all your supplies from Drip Depot? Have you given some thought about placing the drip tape on top of the landscape fabric? The reason I ask is that leaks develop in drip tape from varmints or accidents and having it under the landscape fabric would make it more difficult to spot a leak and/or repair it.

We will remove everything in order to cover crop and till. Then reconstruct the fields next season. Drip depot. Leaving under I found is better for absorption by the plants. Haven’t had any critters. We have a slow leak in one row but it hasn’t prevented adequate watering of the zone so we haven’t tried to find the source. Will test when we pull the lines up in November though!

Hey, Alex! Another of your vidoes saved in my files for future reference. Always such great info shared, thank you! Question: How far away is your water source from your flower fields? I think I'm going to have to have one put in specifically for my flowers. We currently only have 1 spigot for all 6 acres we're on (crazy!) and it's at the front of our house, about an acre away.
@CoramDeoFarm

In this video which is our old location, it was probs 100 ft from the house spigot. In our new location Eric built a water hydrant right off the main line so it’s right there

How do you keep the deer and other animals out of your garden?
@CoramDeoFarm
@CoramDeoFarm 2 жыл бұрын
So far no deer. No squirrels or rabbits either. We are in a fairly exposed pasture and they stick to the far tree lines.

Would 6 ft landscape fabric work better that 2 rows of 3 ft fabric? Then you could forego using fabric staples or tucking one piece under another.

I'm wondering where you got that attachment for the propane burner and also the template for burning the holes?
@CoramDeoFarm
@CoramDeoFarm Жыл бұрын
Hi Beth! We got the attachment at Lowes or Ace. And we made the template. Got the sheet from Lowes, measured the hole spacing with a sharpie (we have a 6”, 9”, 12”), then drilled them with a circular bit. Didn’t take too long and has been very handy.

@CoramDeoFarm

@@CoramDeoFarm Makes sense we have grass growing in planter boxes that I just set outside, the bane of my existence. . Do you have a plan for if you have to replace any drip lines once the field is established? BTW love the gardens and flower field!
@CoramDeoFarm
@CoramDeoFarm 2 жыл бұрын
@@shelbypeters6667 everything will get lifted up at the end of the season. The fabric will be rolled up and stored. We will also store the drip lines. Field will get a winter cover crop then tilled fresh in the Spring. Then I will plant a new season of flowers

Hi Alex, did you dig a little well for water specific for your flower fields? I noticed the little pump nearby. If so, could you give a little explanation and then how you hook it up to irrigation strips? Thank you. Love the natural comedy sprinkled throughout your video.🥰

Hi Summer! Thanks for watching! No we are on rural water. I think you are referring to our irrigation timer? That is just a digital timer that lets us manage different zones off the main irrigation line.
