Are the sixth identical to the maj/min pattern of 3rds when harmonizing the major scale? 1-4-5 get major 6ths? And 2-3-6-7 get minor 6ths? Or do 6ths get their own pattern? It looked like you played the 2nd scale degree with a major 6th?

shapes will be the same yes but you are kinda getting the terms backwards though. Take for example the the 6th interval out of a G barre chord at the 3rd fret. B note at 4th fret on g string on bottom and G note and 3 fret on high e string on top. B to G is actually an interval of a minor 6th - you are referring to it as a major 6th....but dont be too concerned about all that yet. Watch the video I did called "building fills part 1 seeing chords as intervals " it will help a lot in seeing this stuff clearly and how to apply it.
