Like i said on the stream there´s a way to create N-body simulations to create realistic moons and have realistic planets here´s what do you need to do: -in the main menu select the "SST" mode -Select the "gravity" mode -Get rid of all the particles -In the cosmos settings set "frict" to 1 and turn on node gravity -Halve the node gravity multiplier and the gravity point multiplier (this is optional) If you are wondering why the planets look so jelly like is because in real life material strenght doesn´t affect the planets + in the temperatures and pressures of planetary collisions melts the rock of the planet

Also the galaxy mode is making it harder to make a proper moon
@SpaceSimulationToolkit
@SpaceSimulationToolkit 4 ай бұрын
@@sam_xd6574 you should just set Scene.Galaxy.vel_cooldown=0 to disable additional space friction of the Galaxy sim. It works just like additional inversed Cosmos.frict. Also, you can use slightly negative value to achieve self accelerating systems

I think at the scale of this simulation you're gonna need a lot more spin to fling material far enough to escape the roche limit in any quantity

Not just the angle matters, but the speed of the two objects, the size of the residue left behind, and the rotation of the planet it hits.

I think I figured it out, the problem with planet cores is that they're not solid, they're hot enough to act like a slightly molten plastic. So hot stone should flow like a liquid with a insanely high viscosity but still not fully attached, and that would make the transition between magma and solid stone
@freerobux49
@freerobux49 4 ай бұрын
Earth's inner core is primarily solid though, and i'd imagine the other rocky planets also have solid cores. its the outer core that's liquid. the problem is that i dont think SST processes gravity in such a way that causes the liquid inner core to condense into a solid core while still retaining heat once the planet has enough mass, the only thing that really changes is the pressure

*@Spike Viper* 15:00 Try make the target move in a line, then the "projectile" should hit it from the "side" (see below), not from in front of the movement. (+/- 45* angle, total: +45* to 135* angle, 0* is the same direction as the movent direction of the Target)
@charleslundy7545
@charleslundy7545 4 ай бұрын
I think you should work on your angles some. A lot of your collisions are very central. Slice 5-10% on the side. Or less. it seems like alot of the material is simply going into the central mass-mass and not spinning by to be caught into an orbital gravity behavior like the rings do (the little bits that escaped).

@daveblunt6855
@daveblunt6855 4 ай бұрын
I dont know if you know this but in planet mode if you go into cosmics there is a maxvel slider if you turn that up all particles have a faster velocity limit. Turning up the movek slider makes the particles accelerate faster, but i would be cautious because if you turn it up too high it will destroy all stable matter. When you increase the maxvel you can then drag rocks and fling them in a direction to give them inertia which could really help create a moon on planet mode. I hope this helps!
@daveblunt6855
@daveblunt6855 4 ай бұрын
And also, for a video idea if you then go to view- planet- sky and change the temph slider from -80 all the way up to 80 it will get rid of snow so you can have ocean planets. When you turn on node gravity you can create an orbiting moon by increasing the velocity and fling metal rocks correctly by using the drag tool it should orbit the planet correctly. When the moon orbits the ocean planet the water particles get effected and it creates a tide! Its a really cool effect that the game can simulate pretty well.

10:12 th8s is a 2D representation of when w binary asteroids spin around, but slowly lose gravity, till they touch and formed a grid. Infact a NASA mission landed on such 2-orb asteroid as this. Ex ept this one will be less permanent, since 1, strong gravity, and 2, not an initial, decaying binary orbit.

Would the rotation of the body you're trying to create a moon for have any sort of effect on this? I feel like if you have a quickly rotating body being hit by another body the rotation would accelerate if hit properly and eject material fast enough to possibly create an stable orbit
@mackovid24.984
@mackovid24.984 2 ай бұрын
Maybe, the moon keeps getting ripped to shreds by the more massive body, theres a certain radius for all matter where anything that orbits it gets ripped to shreds, at around 15:56, i saw a small body passing by the big planet, and when it got to a certain point, it turned into a spaghetti noodle, maybe the moon youre trying to create is just too close.

My knowledge on this type of stuff is limited but I think I have an idea Given what knowledge I do have on this here's what I think should happen The planet should be bigger with stronger gravity and the object hitting the planet should hit the planet very fast fast enough to knock material into the right distance from the main planet and the stronger gravity of the planet will make sure it doesn't go too far pulling it back in and with the velocity plus the planet stronger gravity those should be the correct conditions to make a moon

Just add tons of loose material to the simulation and let it play out, dude. You kept fiddling with things and messing up the conditions as soon as they got to the right spot.
