Jackson Browne was touring Australia and my girlfriend and I went to the concert, we were hanging around out the back (we couldnt afford tickets), there was just the two of us and the security at the door was giving us scowls....Jackson Browne appears at the door has a look about, smiles at us and says something to the security guard then disappears back inside. A few moments later the guard comes over and invites us in....we watched the end of Maria Mulduar's set and watched Jackson's whole set. Such an act of kindness and one that has stayed with me to this day.

Jackson Browne is just the most wonderful artist and human being. I love him and his music so much. When I first started playing guitar, his songs were what I played and sang. We’ve seen him live twice, once in a big venue with the big band (including Leland Sklar!), and once in a small venue acoustic, with Keb Mo and Steve Earle. What a joy. Leland Sklar is such a wonderful story teller of the golden days of folk-rock. More, please!

I think Jackson had so much heartache in his life that it reflected in his songwriting. He was just able to portray that sadness in his songs that pulled you in. Lee along with Russ David Lindley Kootch and Doerge was the icing on the cake! God those songs were so good! 💕🪕🎸

The songs are about LIFE. LIFE. Not heartache. Not sadness. JB has an awareness of LIFE that enables him to reflect our lives back to us. Don't mean to be strident, but to focus on his losses, and your interpretation that he's SAD, is to diminish his immense artistry, in my opinion. And it pisses me.

My first concert ever was the Running on Empty tour concert in Dayton, OH, which I think was right in early '79? Or was that late 78 in, say, November? It was amazing. And I got my "No Nukes" Jackson Tee!

I worked in a record store in the 70's in Michigan and Jackson Browne was playing at Pine Knob and a guy came in the store looking for roadies to help at the concert. I knew if I called my parents they would've freaked out and say no so it was pointless offering my help but I STILL regret not just going for it and telling my folks that I was spending the night at a friends house. Who knows what it would've led to?

My older sister had a couple JB albums when I was growing up mid 70s and I remember even as a kid listening to his songs and thinking what a great writer! The way he brings out that bittersweet nostalgic emotion in his music is just next level art. Still listening to those early albums ALL the time! Thanks Lee and gang for the music. Jackson's music has grown up with me. Some of my dearest memories are of finding this music with my best friend through the years, sitting down with a new album and thoughtfully listening together. My friend has gone home now but, I will always have the music and the sweet memories.

Kudos to Leland for his work on the Running On Empty album and tour. I got to see that show in Philly and again in Holmdel NJ. The shows were perfect. I think Russell dropped a stick during the title song and he simply carried on unphased. It is arguably the best live album ever made. Title song is pure, unadulterated straight up Rock n Roll in all its power and glory, as it was meant to be. As the opening number of the show, it just blew me away. Jackson is a serious rocker. Leland is a legend.

I ran into Jackson in a little music store in Claremont, CA, in about 1980. He was crouched down behind the end of the counter, playing really good guitar. I didn’t recognize him but stood and listened for a minute. He looked like a 15 year old. He was 27. I recognized him when I heard him introduced to the store owner.

It seems JB's talent and genius are greatly aided by the fact that he _cares_. He cares about being true to a song and getting the next line right just as he cares about the world he's living in. World In Motion... not my favorite album among the places his Muse has taken him... but his commitment and dedication are there... no doubt a part of why he and his music remain, all these years, an inspiration.

Jackson Browne is in my opinion the best poet of the late 20th century. Just incredible songs, and the fusion of those lyrics with the music and his incredible voice are incomparable. And Lee Sklar is one of the few incredibly versatile and talented bassists ever.

I've only seen jackson browne live once, smaller venue... just great! His older music is tided so closely to my own life in the 70s. Turned on the For EVERYMAN by a good friend who later died in a rockslide in N AZ. But JB is just a fantastic lyricist!

Jackson is great but definitely not a savant. This stuff doesn't just pop out of him like Athena from the head of Zeus. He works and reworks his songs till they're perfect. He worked on "Take It Easy" so long, Glen Frey had to take it away from him to finish!

He was considered incredibly influential by many 1970's and 1980's artists. As far as his humanity, I'm guessing that Darryl Hannah may not agree, as they broke up because he used to beat her. Anyway, he is pretty much there when there is a need.

Nope. Lee played bass on Doctor My Eyes. He's got a video of him plying along with the original tape on the same instrument he used in the recording session. He plays the part note for note as he played it in the session.

I saw the video, I also recall he subsequently said he wasn’t actually sure. Anyway, the credit is there, although unfortunately is somewhat open to interpretation. Anyway, check out the Glaub interview. They undoubtedly know each other, and I’m not about to out of hand assume he’d not tell the truth, especially if he was there and likely able to recall providing such an iconic bass line.

It is a course a matter of opinion, but I think JB is our greatest lyricist. Whether is introspective songs, or political/social statements, he is the best. I have seen him in concert more than any other artist by far.

Lee Sklar :"There was something about the music scene in the early 70's" That period was a difficult one for me having come back from Vietnam (spit on by protestors at the Long Beach Naval yard) and meeting up with all my high school buddies who were now listening to Black Sabbath... I was distressed asking "What happened to Crosby, Stills and Nash ?" I got laughed at and no offense to "Ozzy and the boys". Death metal was tough to listen to. The final painful moment was hearing "Baba O'Reilly" by the Who and the lyrics of "Teenage Wasteland". Reality ? The insanity of the Vietnam war? Having joined the Navy to avoid the draft and being thrown into the meat grinder; I was a Malibu surfer kid that came home with a young body and an old man's head on my shoulders. Peace
