Hi Dora, I’ve been making bath bombs on and off for about 2 years. My 4 year old grandson loves bath bombs and he expects new ones from his Gigi so I’m always looking for new cool ways to make them for his bathtime enjoyment. I love your videos. And omg! Yes never spray alcohol or witch hazel on the mix. I swear idk where that terrible idea came from lol But you’re correct it’s a definite No No. I have learned so much from you. I enjoy every video and I must say you definitely know your stuff and it’s obvious you have done your homework. Everything I have tried has turned out great! So, I usually watch a couple times a week and each time I pickup great information. Keep doing what you’re doing. Btw you have a wonderful, happy and bubbly no pun intended lol personality, which makes learning much more fun. It’s obvious you love what you do. That’s awesome!

I've been making bath bombs for three years now and I keep learning about how to produce a great bath bomb every time. I've tried the poly 80 trick from you and it works, but I also kept using the alcohol because I live in zero humidity and my bath bombs kept drying out too fast...my last batch, made with poly and alcohol expanded. It has great bubbles and action, just hard, squashed, cracked too badly to fix or turn into fizzy dust. But I use them and they are fun! I'm going to (try harder) not to add the alcohol in my next batch...and thanks!!! I needed this tutorial.

This recipe is great thank you! I added 1tsp of carrier oil for that extra hold and stability I'm sure its not needed though! Question also! So you put in liquid colour.. then you added powdered colour? I have been using these liquid colours but I can't get them bright and bold they are more pastel and they don't seem to colour the water in a dramatic way. I used 10 drops of one colour, maybe not enough? Thank you!! ❤

For example, I live in south Africa and strong pigments are hard to find(I just found a great soapmaking website selling great quality micas, thank God) but even if the mica is $2 on Amazon, the shipping is $180... It just doesn't seem worth it. Even if you buy in bulk, shipping costs are insane lately.

It's difficult to find a great recipe for bath bombs . It's not a simple one and done. Keeping humidity low is super important though. I can't make bath bombs the day it rains or the day after, they will not stay formed, they just fall apart, so a dehumidifier is a wonderful purchase. Humidity should be below 50. I actually prefer about 42. Everyone's recipe is different in this regard. I also use kaolin clay and cream of tarter and coconut milk, as they make the water feel nice. Sometimes I'll substitute the milk for colloidal oatmeal. I use lakes and dyes to color my bombs although a few use mica too. I'm going to try adding a liquid surfactant rather tham 99% alcohol, like you suggest and see if this helps. I've got a ton of many different surfactants, so no problem ther, lol! Thanks for the tutorial! Jill

I am so glad, blessed really to have found your channel. You are so generous and I truly thank you for all your help, guidance and sharing your experience. I'm new to making bath bombs so I do have a question and hope its not a stupid question. I was wondering do we use both mica and lake colorants as well as liquid colorants in a bomb recipe. I thought it was one or the other but I noticed you added all 3 for one single recipe. Why add mica to liquid and also lake powder. I'm a novice and apologize for my ignorance. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.
@CreativeBathLab2 жыл бұрын
Hey Lisa. There are no silly questions. I don't normally add all 3. I was demonstrating how to add colorants to a bath bomb recipe (for the sake of the video). If I do add all 3 I normally use 90% dye bc it dissolves in water, then I might add lake or neon color powder to brighten the color up a bit (10% at the absolute most bc it is not water soluble). Then you can add mica for sparkle.

@CreativeBathLab2 жыл бұрын

Hi Dora! You make wonderful stoff! I live in Sweden and have a hard time to find and buy poly 80, Is it a must to make bath bombs? What can I replace it with? Have I understood correctly that you use Poly 80 when you use Mica powder? If I use soap colors do I med Poly 80? I have to thank you for your fantastic Chanel! A big hugh from! Gina
@CreativeBathLab2 жыл бұрын
Gina, this question is inspiration for a tutorial! It's such a common question that I feel like I need to do one about it! But to answer your question: The only emulsifiers that I know of & have used before are Polysorbate 80, polysorbate 20, or hydrogenated castor oil (peg 40). You need an emulsifier for when using powder colors that don’t dissolve in water. If you use a powder color that doesn’t dissolve in water (i.e. lakes, micas, pigments) without an emulsifier it's going to make an ugly mess & you'll get that dreaded ring around the tub. The severity of the mess, of course, depends on the color & how much of the color that you use. It also helps oils (including fragrance oil) mix in the water- so the oil doesn’t pool on top the water. So while it's not absolutely crucial to the performance of your bath products, I do highly recommend it. And, in fact, it does help the performance of bath bombs. It acts as a buffer that slows reactions in the water. Without an emulsifier or a surfactant your bath bombs will fizz really loud & dissolve even faster!
@ginaschagerstrom51172 жыл бұрын
@@CreativeBathLab thank’s for your respons! I have understood that you have to use a emulsifier when you use Mica in a bath bomb. As a told you, I can’t buy Polsorbate 80 or 20 in my country. But I have done your herb bath bombs and they are lovely!😍 It’s a shame I can’t by the right stoff so I can do colorful bath bombs. But it is what it is! Thank’s again Dora for your responsen. I used this recipe to make my first ever bath bomb ghosts. Since I wanted to keep them white and the fragrance I used had vanilla in it. I added equal parts stabilizer to fragrance. Idk if that’s right but that’s what I do for my soaps? I noticed they are getting puffed up and are no longer smooth like when they first came out of the mold. Is this normal or was it the added stabilizer that threw off the dry/wet ratio? Should I shrink wrap them to save them? Dora haaaalllp! Lol

Hey Dora! I recently found you and have become obsessed with your videos! I've struggled with Bath bombs so much, and have given up on them several times over the years and just decided not to worry with them anymore. But I always end up coming back to them. Your videos have really helped me alot and I finally have confidence that I'll be able to "get it right" this time :) Haven't used one of your recipes yet but getting ready to. One question though, how long does it take your bombs to completely dissolve. I'm wanting mine to last for at least 5 mins, and so far it's only about 3 mins. I'm using the 2.5" sphere molds. I'm currently not using cornstarch or a surfactant so I'm wondering if that could be the reason why they're dissolving too fast. Any suggestions you have are appreciated. Thanks again for all you do ❤
