Wow, thanks Lindsay. You are basically giving classroom material here for free. You explain so well and logical. Very well demonstrated from start to end for an attractive look. 👍

Best posing video ever! The best part as the viewer is that I am not trying to memorize poses. It's just understanding the principals of posing and what the camera sees. Thinking about simple steps makes it easier to use in a session. Thank you Lindsay!

As someone that has watched all her CreativeLive posing videos and read her Posing book, this one video perfectly summarizes almost all her posing principles and tips in a succinct 25 min. So well done 👍🏼

this is super helpful - being a shy guy i tend not to coach or direct very much and usually let the model go through their pose routines until they run out and at that point start to direct just a little to get to some alternative and maybe more refined looks but these tips and approaches from Lindsay are particularly good for those of us that arent yet recognising some areas that could improve our understanding of posing better and produce more flattering looks that clients will love.

Priceless advices. Could you tell us how you would pose elder people? Men and women? Or those curvy poses would also apply to them? Thanks a lot. Thomas

Lindsey, you are fantastic, your book is great, finally somebody who can do portrait photography. So often I see "photographers" shooting during bad light with no Speedlight.

Lindsay, superb checklist and approach to moving a model into position in a most direct way. Four steps max from a flat model to a curvy model without causing distress. I have just adopted you, er, I mean your method. Thank you.

Thanks Lindsay, full body shots have always been a challenge for me. Especially men. Really liked your ideas on negative space and foreshortening techniques, angles and choice of lens. Hope to see more ideas on this topic. Great video!

It's a clear indicator of how hegemonic the fashion industry is when the advice from a lead photographer is completely wrapped up in the gender binary and sizeist thinking. They're effective tips, but the cultural forces they uphold are not good.

It may look better in terms of shape and size of the body, but the 1st thing that comes to my mind is : it's not natural, I've never seen a woman stand like this. And this instantly throws me off. It's a lot more obvious in the woman's poses. The man seemed to naturally adopt a more... well, natural position.

You sure like to destroy a model image shooting hands! ASK - What is the purpose of a model image? What is a client looking for in a model or a model image? I've shot around 8000 models, 45 million images and I never seen so much entertainment versus professional model photography. Modeling is common sense. You got it or you don't. At 3 years old, I had it. Do you know the purpose of a model image so you don't put hands near the face or make a dress shot become a distracting hand shot? If you were interviewing would you turn your shoulder to the interviewer? Would you put your hand near the face? Don't people put their hands up to distract and draw attention to a friend, tabor bus? Why would you distract from the subject and make your shots about hands so your images are beat out by first day model photographers? Not only do you shoot hands, but you block bodies with forearms , surely adding distracting shadows and breaking up the REAL purpose of a model image. Learn your trade. If you do your will learn that all this posing BS isn't how you become the best model or model photographer.
