If I had to throw away every Christian musician but one, I would keep Michael Card. What a blessing to find these lectures even at this date.

I have always loved Michael Card's songs. I find them to be almost prophetic. They touch my soul with worship. The music doesn't rise above the words. The words are scriptural. They ignite awesome thoughts of God, HIs love, His sacrifice, and His call for us to obey Him.

This is so true and helpful. I think we shoul both focus more and talk more about walking that journey of intimacy with God. After all, it' sour relationship with Him that makes all the difference.

The second of the four shofar sounds is the shevarim, from the root Hebrew word shevarim meaning broken. Brokenness is not a popular church subject today, nor is lamentation. But this is often how the great psalms begin and they end with a glorious affirmation of the faithfulness of God to His people when they come into tribulation and trial.

*Love* how you state in the beginning (I'm paraphrasing) that there has to be law and grace. I have seen some evangelicals go so strong into that grace preaching that it changes them - and not in a good way. They literally think what they do, how they behave, is irrelevant to their relationship with God and fellow believers.

The shevarim is followed by the Teruah, a powerful exhortation all presence and the voice of God in the blowing of the shofar, the shout, and the joyful sound. I have a video series opening up on the Teruah as a musical inspiration from God.

I'm thinking... on the subject of suffering and laments, might be interesting to hear Michael Card write some songs on the 'Wine press Psalms The first one is Ps 8 Ps 8 was sung to the stressed tune of the wine-press (Gittith), a strange musical celebration of the exaltation in Ps 8 A song played by an instrument of Gath, an instrument of an enemy A song played by an instrument of Gath, a place named after the wine press The other two are near the poetic center of the book of Psalms The dark book of the Psalms, book 3 has a crushed center The soft tune of the lilies is heard The songs turn to the vine, the branch, the man at your right hand, the son of man The Messiah gloriously exalted in Ps 8 to the tune of wine-presses (Gittoth) Now the tune wine-presses comes back, double strength, rolling over the soft tune of the lilies Here at the middle of the middle book of the Psalms, the dark book of the Psalms book 3, the wine press songs. Ps 81 Sings a call to repentance Ps 84 Shows a place for the repentant, even the swallow finds a home in the sanctuary The wine-press of judgement indeed came down on Korah, the baldy who stood against Moses and God's holiness The new wine pours out now seen in Ps 84 as Korah's sons protect God's holiness and are trophy to His mercy
