I use the order of flats to practice. Using a metronome, I try to play BEADGCF while saying the name, and then repeat the process with Bflat, Eflat, Aflat, etc. That way I am also memorizing the circle of fourths, and to be able to recognize moving by fourths around the keyboard. This is how I learned the bass guitar fretboard and have been trying to apply it to the keyboard too. I could also repeat the process with the order of sharps, using GDAEBFC and then repeat with Gsharp, Dsharp, Asharp, etc. That ones a bit harder to memorize though. Again, it helps with the circle of fifths, and to recognize how to move around by fifths.

Hi Josef, that was VERY interesting. I`m still trying to get my head around the positions of the various notes, can I ask you what your thoughts are about the ID stickers I see that are available to mark the keys. Are they helpful or an overall hindrance....?

Hi Joe I'm a complete beginner and looking to learn how to play and have found your videos great, so am looking at doing the Piano Lessons For Beginners playlist but was wondering where to go after? Should i leave videos like this one till later on?
@Creativepianoacademy6 жыл бұрын
Hey, I believe this video is in my beginner's playlist. At least it should be! Once you have gone over the vids in the beginners playlist.. take your pick. There's no specific order to the vids. I leave that for my premium courses. Glad you like these vids though and long may they help you!
@baggi09456 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply, this video isn't in the beginner's playlist :) I'll get through that and more than likely get your premium course because I would benefit a lot more with some structure to my practices as I seem to be going from video to video not knowing if I'm learning advanced stuff before the basics lol

This is great but to be honest I think the video is a little fast for beginners! I found it easier to watch at 0.75 speed lol and I've been playing for a few years! I was looking for tutorials for a friends and just stumbled across this video!

I am beginner and i have a problem. When i have the chords for a song and i try to play them, i take so much time trying to look for the chord. Can u please help me?
@Creativepianoacademy5 жыл бұрын
The more you play the more familiar you become with the keys and layout. Try an exercise where you move between chord inversions to a metronome.

Thats remind me of a five/seven piano keynotes. Five sharp or flat, and seven notes. I could use five-seven for a name. Think its cool.

how to say the note by hearing... that is C,D,E,etc...
@Creativepianoacademy7 жыл бұрын
hey wills. The idea of this exercise is to say the note whilst you play it. Remember, the exercise is about being spontaneous and thinking quick by staying in time to the metronome. Saying the note outloud when you play it is another angle to come at it in order to cement the notes into your mind. So looking at the keyboard, the metronome hits, you play a note and say what that note is outloud (or in your mind) and continue on each strike of the metronome. Hope that helps
