I was just leaving SI-Drums because I had not found a mixer to separate the tracks and here is the solution: Drum Map. Thank you! Amazing how this video come just in time!
@DiscJediPanoramix2 жыл бұрын
For anyone still trying to do this. At 4:35 CS right clicks on the drum icon, this gives you the number to use when adding to the drum map. I wasn't able to down load the Map or Template and stumbled though it manually. Hope this will save you some time. Thanks for the videos and all your knowledge.

This is exactly the sort of video that drew me to Mike's channel in the first place: Practical ways to use Cakewalk out of the box to achieve solid results. There was nothing here that was particularly new to me, but having it presented in this clear-headed fashion made it all fall into place for me. (And this from someone who has been using Cakewalk since it was just a sequencing program, decades ago!)

Great thanks! There’s also a drum map for SI drums already available by default with cakewalk - it’s labelled Studio Instruments - Drums in the dropdown of presets

The drum map presets are found in the track’s output source dropdown. Click “New Drum Map” and then scroll down to the S’s to find “Studio Instruments - Drums”

Here's a less laborious and easier way to get the results you want by using MT power kit and then SI drums. Nothing wrong with Mike's way..I love his videos..just an alternative to use the best features of both programs. 1. MT has way more beats, fills, grooves and they are easy to try. Use drag and drop to create your drums on ONE track. When you've reached the point where you're satisfied highlight the midi track and copy it. 2. Insert SI Drums. Make your midi track and paste what you copied at 1:00.00. 3. Go to "Process" and open Run Cal. Choose "split notes to tracks'. You now have a track for each drum piece. Select all those tracks. Hold ctrl and change all to "External input Ch. 10. and the output to SI drums...also light up all the blue squares "input echo. Lastly mute the MT kit. Now you can use the tunings and other kits to get the sound you want and add effects or edits etc. to each component.

Man, over the past 20 years I have tried all kinds of approaches to drum vsts( Groove Agent 2 and 4, SD3, BFD2, AD2, RealiDrums, etc), but your method is right on the money for me! I have a pile of projects started that I want to "switch" to this drum approach. How can I insert this set up efficiently/quickly? I'm already trying to "convert" my projects, but imagine there's a simpler way. OR at least I am hoping there's a simpler way! LOL I can see how this would simplify my life, both in terms of creating my drum track arrangements and in terms of mixing. THANK YOU! (Fair Dinkum!)

Hi, I'm new to Cakewalk and was wondering if it's possible to play and record in real time with custom samples like this on an electric drum kit, or if it's something that can only be done after recording. Thank you for the great guides
@sevenfifteen3 жыл бұрын
Another great tutorial. Best thing about it, even if you're not planning on using SI-Drums, you learn a lot about setting things up, that applies to every other plugin as well. Re: naming, there is the option to just add the synth to the synth rack (deselect anything but synth rack view). You can then rename it, then right click on it and choose add instrument track. But, unfortunately this adds a synth track plus a midi track and the naming contains the number that's added by CW and the name of the audio outs chosen. So yeah, you're stuck with your method I'm afraid!

this is a really great video - I cannot map my Rolan drum kit (cos I am thick) so been using SI Drum patterns - this is so good its the reason I have been sharing the channel now. I just don't understand the difference between inserting a SI drum track midi only, SI drum track First synth audio only, and SI drum track First Synth and MIdi source - the latter having two tracks - one like an audio track?
