I have a question, how do I find the best skin routine? My skin is a mix of being oily and dry in some areas. I also have break outs around my chin and blackheads around my chin and nose and high cheek area. What is your opinion to help. Also, is your brother the one to ask about finding the best foundation for my skin tone? I think you're great. Thank you for passing your knowledge on. 😁

I have heard you talk about having rosacea, I have these odd red spots that come up, kind of look like pimples but arnt, they feel a bit tender but again are not pimples or white heads. My doctor thought it may be rosacea, what I always thought rosacea was isn’t what it looks like. Would you have any recommendations? I am currently using Tatcha water cream and deep cleanse. I really don’t like the feeling of creams or feeling tacky and oiling after using stuff on my face. Do you have any advice at all?

It’s so crazy that you mentioned Drunk Elephant having a superiority complex. I know a brand representative who told me he once went up to the CEO, Tiffany Masterson, at a conference and wanted to gush about how much he loved the brand. She realized he was from a competitive skincare brand and she LITERALLY told him, “How about you worry about yourself and your brand, hun-“ and walked away! I guess her attitude trickled down onto the brand and her employees. Yikes.
@kaitlynjones34244 жыл бұрын
That’s sad. I wonder if something else happened right before or what. I wish I could not support the brand, but it’s the only thing that has worked for my skin! And I’ve had terrible acne issues for ten years, even after two rounds of accutane. I do think the customer service side has had some improvement. Idk though for sure. Maybe I’ll branch out eventually!
@NikkyS8394 жыл бұрын
I was the same way- did acutane 3x. Maybe reach out to your dermatologist and ask about epiduo and dapsone. Those have been miracle workers for me, but I think part of my acne problem was just that I became older, lol. My skin has finally just got out of the teenager/college years.

Ohhhh James,honey... As far as your stand on Drunk Elephant-yessss. You’re so,so,soooo on point. I was one of those people who got sent PR. And I was absolutely thrilled! But then when I reached out to their team with questions about what they recommended as far as incorporating their products into a routine with my non-negotiable,aren’t-ever-leaving-my-routine products(PC BHA,Cosrx Snail 96,Eucerin Anti-Redness Night Cream,Mac Strobe Cream...to name a few)they told me it was basically “all or nothing”. All DE or it won’t work properly. I knew they pushed that gimmick but I never knew they like...really enforced it. So my skin would have to completely adjust to 8-10 new products and without the help of my old standbys? I found that insane. And definitely a money-making scheme. It’s sad,because I love Protini and I really,really love D-Bronzi...(I may cave and repurchase,it’s truly beautiful and unique),and Passioni is a great retinol as well. But I can absolutely find other products that will do basically the same for about a third,or less,or the cost of those. I found after I quit using a lot of DE a lot of my redness faded away. I find Framboos to be good product...but something I’ll only use once every couple weeks. And BabyFacial is nice-but even with my skin,which is very used to acids,and even with a buffer,it still makes me so,so red for a few days after-and,as I said,my skin can take quite a bit. I actually think TO Peeling Solution works better for my skin,left on for about 7-8 mins once or twice a month. Their Vit C has gone rancid on me more times then I care to admit. Like,almost blackish colored. And they insist it’s safe to use. I’d never. I think the DE cult mentality-which I was totally a part of for a hot minute-is a bit creepy in hindsight. There are people that got tattoos of the DE logo in honor of their skincare. No shade-if that’s what you want to do,go off. But isn’t that a bit...extreme? Like, I guess that’s one way to secure your place on the PR list... Anyway. My rant is over. If offended anyone who is a die-hard DE fan I apologize. To each their own, I’m just speaking from my own personal experience. Edit: Wow,this was loooong,guys. My coffee must have kicked in. If anyone has any dupes for D-Bronzi,please lmk. Have a great day. Hugs,James. You’re a rockstar.😘

The reason why I love this channel so much is because how real and honest you are about your reviews and your personal ethics. Far too many content creators force feed us these extortionate products that never work and that we can't afford simply because they've been sponsored and refuse to disclose that information. They sell crap products, that they know are crap, and they themselves would never actually use. If you think a brand is overpriced bullshit you say so and save us a lot of time and money. The products you review are of all price ranges and you frequently tell us not to waste our money and give great alternatives. I'm so sick of soulless KZbinrs that make money off of false claims and dubious sponsorships. Stay Gold, James.

I have been watching you for about 4 months. Saw you first time on Hyram's channel. Both of you are so lovely. Of course, your skincare suggestions have helped me a lot but also just listening to you. So soothing. They say heightened levels of stress harm the skin too. If so my skin has improved just because of watching your videos which brings down my stress levels significantly.

I just discovered you and your brother. What a breath of fresh air! The point you made about skin changing over time is SO TRUE - I'm 35 now, and my skin is getting oilier overall as I get older (especially my eyelids, it's getting so much worse), while the bits in my chin/nose creases are needing more moisture. I also moved from one area of the country to another area, and the change in humidity alone is really changing how my skin reacts to products.

The first answer is actually useful to me, I wasn't sure if I should let influencers choose from my product line or I choose for them but what you said makes a lot of sense, if they get to choose at least it will be something they may actually use than if u were to select something they were uninterested in for them.

I have two tips on using products which are: frequent cleaning of the outer packaging of your product helps sanitizing it from bacteria and prevents the bacteria from getting to your hands and to the actual product you are using... the second one is pretty obvious which is doing your night routine at least 30 minutes before going to bed in order to give skin the chance to absorb all the products and prevent them from moving to your pillow case which in most cases will lead to cause acne problems.. (Ps: please excuse my English I'm not a native) ^^ If there is any corrections please let me know 😄😄
@JamesWelsh4 жыл бұрын
YOUR ENGLISH IS PERFECT!!! Ohhhh both good tips!!! Sometimes I do my skincare right before going to bed and I just lay on my back laying awake for 30 mins haha 😅

The 'power' of blocking negative people is so cleansing. I come on the internet for a bit of escapism and possibly learn something. I feel like influencers don’t disclose sponsorships because they don’t actually like the products🤷🏼♀️
@Lynn-sx6nv4 жыл бұрын
Exactly!! And sometimes you can totally tell that there's a sponsorship behind even if the influencer doesn't say so, that's the moment I stop listening to what they're saying, I just can't trust them 🤷♀️

I think influencers are afraid people won’t trust their opinion if they know there’s money attached. The problem is, we trust them even less when we find out it’s sponsored AND they’re are dishonest.

I think it's fantastic that in this day and age, there are platforms that allow you and your brother to express yourselves so fully. And also, that you both are so open with yourselves. My cousin, who is like a brother to me, use to have terrible breakouts and acne, and if he showed an interest in wanting to better it, or build a routine he was denounced by his father for being "girly". I wish he could have had access to you at a much younger age, because he suffered so heavily from insecurity. Now I can't stop talking to him about all your hints, reviews, and tips. I'm so here for the inclusivity and love. And I also STAN the fact you don't berate other brands, just don't want to vote with your dollar or your voice!!

We LOVE people who are just genuine and honest because they're here for themselves and their subscribers and not to be a brand's mouthpiece/moneymaker. As for brands people don't use because of something that brand did, you mentioned a Sunday Riley product and it reminded me that they had their employees make fake accounts just to post reviews online and on sites that sell their products (like Sephora). They lost my personal trust for that because I rely on other people's honest reviews and I don't want to be duped by fake reviews.
@jenyeol4 жыл бұрын
I also think it would be nice if more brands allowed influencers to have the option to select specific products to try out rather than give them all products at once. Although they may give them away, it’s a bit wasteful considering influencers will keep them and not even use all, if not, most of them. I understand it’s a marketing strategy but we should be more environment friendly!

I also love your honesty -- I would genuinely try products because you recommend them. It's good that brands are kind to you even when you (politely) bash them because one day they'll make something you like, and a bunch of viewers will end up trying it on your recommendation.

I’m trying to look through your videos and find good products for dry skin. I’ve talked with esthetician’s who have been in the biz for over 10 years and still no one has been able to give me a product that fully hydrates my skin. It’s so dry and so flaky. Foundation? All of them flake right off of me. I have tried practically everything in my local Sephora. Anything you would recommend? Btw your skin is absolutely flawless. Looking forward to binging the rest of your channel!

Have you tried mineral powder foundation like Bare Minerals? Do you peel with BHA& AHA and have the right moisturiser? Also, getting a good, big humidifier helps against dry air. Skin, pets and house plants love it. Shouldn’t get under 50% at home.
