Seeing Nina die right after watching her backstory was extremely sad because it made it very clear why she had no chance whatsoever. She was just an ordinary human being turned fish person. She didn't have any combat skills or superpowers, she grew up sheltered and never had to fight or kill anyone, she could swim well and breathe underwater and that's where it ends. It really showed how dark and messed up Amanda Waller's Taskforce M really was

I like that they brought in a lot of DC/WB animation veterans to work on the show. Sam Liu, who directed half the episodes, made a bunch of DC animated movies, and he's been doing DC animation for a long time, he worked on the original Teen Titans and Justice League Unlimited. They also got artists and editors who worked on the animated Mortal Kombat movies, that's probably why the violence and gore was so well done.

Gunn definitely was starting strong swinging here, especially as this is what he excels at: Comedies that tug at your heart. It's a good basis for the universe, and feels so far unique enough from Marvel. We'll see how it keeps up as Gunn is forced from that comfort zone.

I liked how Creature Commandos setup some of the world building for the DCU. Agencies, cities, heroes, villains, etc. were established, but it could have been easily missed since it was either mentioned in quick dialogue or flashback scenes.

Reading some of the og comics from CC, I wish season 2 or 3 would steer more towards the comics with more drama and less jokes. Steer away from being a TSS reskin and more of it's own thing. Of course Frankenstein will never be a good guy as he was in his own series, which I'm fine with.

Honestly I liked the show, Eric is weird and wished he wasn’t so weird and just misunderstood. The bride is cool, Dr phosphorus is cool, weasel is just weasel don’t care, GI Robot is the precious bot we cannot lose and Nina? Don’t really care honestly. The overall story can be explained in a sentence or two. Amanda Waller sends monsters to defend a princess against a psycho witch. But it turns out the princess is the real threat and Waller sends the monsters to stop her but was tricked into stopping it. That’s really it, the show was more about the characters, which is fine but a compelling plot could have been cool too. I feel like the brides back story was neat until it got really weird, Dr Phosphorus and GI were my faves, weasels and Nina’s were just incredibly sad and shit got worse for the sake of being worse especially with law enforcement like they intentionally decided to make the backstory even more fucked. Don’t get me wrong the show is entertaining but the fact they got clay face out here acting a fool as another person fucks with his whole backstory. He is an actor, they just had him be so fucking weird pretending to be that doctor in school instead of having him just discredit everything the real doc said. But that wasn’t wacky enough so they did it the way we saw. Overall for me the shows a 6-7, I’m not incredibly attached to the show but I am now more aware of these characters because of it so that’s good.

I feel like because Joe is really hyped for Superman and hoping that it is good that he's not willing to see the flaws in the show. I get there's flaws in everything but Amanda Waller is unforgivably dumb. GI robot and Phosphorus i agreed with you guys on. The brides back story is necrophilia and you could have gotten to the same plot thread without dr Frankenstein sleeping with a corpse literally have her young ignorant mind say she loves him for all he's doing to help her learn and Frankenstein's monster kills him for it. The weasel's story ruins the weirdness behind the character in order to make you like the role james guns brother played. Nina's story was the last straw for me to immediately fix the scene with Nina's father getting shot have her in the net that they pull her out of the water with unable to breathe, restrained, and have her father pull a knife to try and cut her out and have that be why he's shot took 2 minutes of critical thinking and doesn't make the average star city cop look like an idiot. In order to make the main character seem decent everything and everyone else is just dumb in the story and there is no believe ability to any of the characters. None of the villains feel like a threat to the average police officer in the show let alone the dc universe. I feel like because joe is so hyped for superman whenever alex and oj say anything super negative but valid about the show he almost gets offended and they started tiptoeing around him. AJ i hope they do superman justice but i see the flaws in the show and i think you need to be a little less bias on DC coverage. I love y'all's show

I think a WW3 scenario implies nukes being used to some degree. Really only the Top Tier DC villans and heros are surving a nuclear weapon. Even some versions of Supes get really messed up by getting hit by one.

I can see why people who see too much of themselves in the portrayal of the sons of themyscira and Frankenstein wouldnt like them The premotion didnt show how The Princess would win and the heroes would die. Grodd was an ally, but not showing a big explanation of a big threat was probably done on purpose so that the same threat can be used later in the universe and it can then be revealed that this was what the Princess could have used had the vision come to pass. This way they dont spoil that plot and while you could have 2 seperate things, wouldnt it be cooler if it was a callback? Batman's first movie will be the Brave and the Bold, with his son. So having been Batman for 15 years would make some sense. He's obviously not a father with a teenage son and just starting out as Batman, he'll be a veteran and will have faced a bunch of criminals over a long period of time Nina is asked to kill because of all the guards and being able to do it in a stealthy way. Its a bad call from an inexperienced leader, Bride has only just been givien the job because Flag was comprimised. It would nake sense if she really waa a monster, like ther rest of them are considered. She isnt. Shes innoocent from the start to the end. They all have tragic stories, but Nina's continues to play out throughout the show and is the most tragic. She may look like a monster but she isnt one and cant be one. Waller's own team takes her out in The Suicide Squad, her opperatives do the opposite of her orders. Then in Peacemaker her own daughter exposes her, hence why she can now only send in the creature commandos. Waller is almost always wrong and this was a continuation of that, although at least this time she was fooled by villains using super powers to try to fool her. Far more understamdab;e/ The cops were awful in several episodes, probably a mark down for me because it happenied in multiple episodes makes them look incompetant. I'd give it a 8.5. Its better than Arcane season 2 with everything but the animation/style which would have been hard to reach without the same budget.

@@Napalmcandy1 Totally disagree, with the plot aspect, it was very easy to follow. I think some folks weren't used to seeing a final season before. They'd forgotten that a final season ties up stuff. It's like when you get to the final 20 chapters of a novel trilogy and things are being tied up in a pretty little bow. Now look, I'm not saying you're stupid or anything like that, far from it. I'm just saying I'm very familiar with stories that are at their end and how it shakes out. That show was just clearing house at the end of its arc. It's been done so many times in novelized stories that I wasn't surprised at all how it trickled out. The show didn't try to bring up another spin-off season, didn't introduce more of this or that... it just ended as if there would be nothing more after that. A lot of American watchers who've never read anything substantive have no idea what something looks like when it's over. We're so used to seeing the build-up of another series just after the main series ends. Because that's how TV works, there's always the next season of... etc... etc... But hey, I think Creature Commandos was a pretty cool show. But Arcane and this show were accomplishing two different tasks. Commando's is all about a start, a new beginning, it didn't have to finish a landing. Arcane had to finish and was doing something totally unheard of:... actually ending. But I can't convince you or even try because both shows were so radically different that I can understand how it must have seemed to those who aren't familiar with varying different forms of storytelling. I liked Arcane because it was _different_ and the characters were all so new, at least to me, and it didn't have any _checks_ it had to do. But hey... to each their own, I suppose.

To my eye, it doesn't seem like I was being rude, just having a difference of opinion. I saw a movie once that I hated, but once I understood how the story was told I was able to appreciate the effort more, as it didn't mean I suddenly liked the movie but at least I knew what those reasons were based on, so even though I still disliked the movie I didn't hate it more than I would had I not researched the story structure and what the director was trying to do. That said, I really didn't feel that Arcane felt rushed. However, those montages at the beginning of every episode made it feel like more episodes could have been pretty awesome. Instead, it gave me the feeling that we were missing so much. But I can certainly understand how that would give folks a rushed feeling since they crammed so much story that they couldn't animate it all. Despite my feelings, a great majority of fans, who loved the show, seemed to just have wanted more episodes since those montages did seem sort of like teasers. Anyways, thanks for the retort. I don't know what Joe is talking about saying NONE of the Creature Commandos are a-holes. Doctor Phosphorus is the only member of the team who's an actual supervillain. Sure, he has a sympathetic backstory, but he killed two innocent children for REVENGE and he was a crime boss. Out of all the Commandos, he definitely has the fewest redeemable qualities, and the nicest thing he does throughout the series is decide to not kill a little girl. Phosphorus is very much an a-hole.

It was oddly....bland. Like a season long introduction, where all they did was barely manage to kill off a couple of characters, one of which did literally nothing the whole season, and the other was only killed to actively stop her from doing anything. It feels less like a season and more like the first 4 episodes of a season. And a lot of character actions make little sense, like why is a powerful witch assembling a militia of gun loving americans and somehow gets them inside a parody of a eastern european country, just to kill one normal human princess? Why does the princess hire Clayface to impersonate a themeschira scholar to validate Circe's visions, but only impersonates her after she already gave the Circe the OK, and the hit job was placed on the princess, and Clayface does nothing to directly discredit the scholar, except act kinda weird and cause Flag to coincidentally look into her life, only then discovering Clayface?! WTF was the plan here?!

I did not like it. The show was just the same shit again just worse. The humor did not worked for me, the main story was incredibly stretched, the music choice got boring after the fist episode and had no in world explanation (it works in GotG because in world tape) and I the soundtrack was tiering at the end. It's incredibly tropy and feels repetitive. One thing I liked were the retrospectives, but they mosty made the main story a bit pointless. I feel going for one mission a season wasn't that great of an idea. It would probably worked better as more episodic content connected with each character, because I had enough of Pokolistan after the first episode and having the whole season in there was just killed it for me. Frankenstein was the worst character here and I just could not stand him. Like the story had some serious holes (starting with flag not leaving anybody in the castle and before that there was no explanation why Circe did not attacked the castle before monsters appeared) and it makes for a really bad watch for me. The show hangs on everybody being incredibly stupid, even Amanda Waller. The animation was decent, but when the writing is off I just don't care for it. Adding mature themes doesn't make for a good story. It just changes rating. I will not get back for a second season and I'm worried about the future of DC because of this series. BTW. I feel this is more like a movie chopped up to be a series and I feel everything is like that today.

The sons of themyscira are literaly sons of Amazons from themyscira that are discarded and left behind because only woman are allow on the island that is the reason they are a little stronger than your average person. The only thing I found really bad is making them all super dumb, because they are actually smart and more organized group with a really sad story in the comics

I thought the music was good. It had luke an eastern european flair which considering the plot is set in a fictional eastern European country it makes sense. That being said next season should probably have different music depending on where it's set.

They way you guys critique is so odd, Amanda Waller being reminded which power clairvoyant was is a crazy nitpick😭 and harping on not believing the justice league would lose to the princess as if that’s an actual point. It was a vision of the feature and it’s heavily implied she’s collaborating with villains and other countries…we don’t know HOW it happens we just see that it does. Then being upset that Frankenstein was portrayed as a shitty emotionally immature antagonist is funny…right cuz Frankenstein was such a staple DC character how dare they ruin his portrayal💀

I watched the first two episodes of this new series from James Gunn and dropped the show. I like the GotG trilogy, but maybe Marvel had more of a hand in reining in James Gunn's eccentrics than what most people thought; because this show feels like he was given complete control to do "his" own thing and I do not like it. First off, his hubris is on full display as in the opening of every episode, they literally include a cartoon of him looking all smug and cool sitting at a laptop as they display he was the writer and director for the show. I have never seen a cartoon highlight its own creator in such a way and it comes off as pompous rather than endearing. Second, the soundtrack was not good, I have not heard the songs in this show, but where as the soundtrack in GotG was great, these new songs are not good and some just miss what I think was the tone of the scenes he put them in. Third, the humor is bad and cringe in the show. There is a lot of conservatives are bad jokes in the first episode and other political jokes that feel out of place and just thrown in to push people's buttons rather than contribute to the characters or the story. Fourth, the plot starts off awful. The plot starts off that Circe (a Greek magic user who is an antagonist to Wonder Woman in the comics) has gotten a bunch of the most neck beard and red neck looking American loser males to invade a small Eastern European country and try to take it over. Yes, it is very cringy whenever it shows her "soldiers" on screen in makeshift military gear talking about sexism. The country they are invading with their basic American gun collection has advanced battlesuits for its soldiers, so the entire idea of the invasion somehow working enough that the US (an ally of the country) has to send in the Creature Commandos is dumb. The characters are okay, but once again the humor is cringy and the actors are trying, but you can only elevate crap writing so much. What I did like about the show was that the animation is really good looking and the action scenes are well done. Unfortunately, that leaves more negatives than positives. My rating = 4/10 I just could not get into the style of humor in this show and it relies on it a lot. It sucks because the animation is good and the idea of the Creature Commandos is solid, but the execution is just bad.

Series as a whole is enjoyable, but mainly the backstories of the Creature. Commandos. Everything surrounding the princess, the Amazon, etcetera I was pretty uninterested in.

i really enjoyed the show, although some people didn't like this version of Frankenstein but version of Frankenstein was closer to the original frankensteins monster in mary shellys book. down to the only person not afraid being a blind person. Character wise it made sense because he's a person with book smarts but has the attitude and moods of a todler so extreme hate and extreme love and acting on his own whims.
