Creature Craft in Mammoth Falls Cross Mtn Gorge 6/23/19

Mammoth Falls in Cross Mountain Gorge 6/23/2019. Flows were 13,600 cfs. Running dual oars in the Magenta boat were Darren Vancil (front) Blaine Boyle (back). Kory Meidell running the yellow boat. This is the first time to our knowledge that two Creature Crafts hooked themselves together in a rapid. Time in this rapid is 1 min 10 seconds. Yeah, that's what I thought, too, and I've been kayaking it since 1986. I guess CreatureCrafters get to make up their own names, especially after a needless ass-pounding like that. 🤣

I was a raft guide for a couple years when I was younger. Im 51 now, and want a Creature Craft to go do the stuff I was to scared to in a regular raft, and that wasnt much, lol.

AH, I was in the yellow boat. My Answer to your question: Not much could be done to prevent the boats from getting tangled up. The yellow did have a prototype frame with oar towers that stuck out more though- but that is an advantage for most things. I don’t think I’d attempt that hole at that flow. Too sticky. If I HAD to do it again, I’d have my sea anchor out and partially deployed - meaning not strapped

Man, that looked like ya all was in a washing machine, I've been caught in some holes with backflow, but that was intense! You were in there a long few minutes. Impressive run, impressive craft. Glad it popped you guys out. I figured when watching it would take the crafts hitting the right turbulent spot to pop you guys out. Crazy ride!
