Years after being deported to Italy by law enforcement and betrayed by rival gangsters, notorious criminal Frank Buchanan discovers a twisted opportunity for revenge. In Europe, he encounters Dr. Wilhelm Steigg, a scientist who has mastered the dark art of reanimating the dead and controlling them through verbal commands. Funding Steigg's experiments, Buchanan unleashes an army of undead to eliminate his enemies. However, the process leaves behind traces of radioactive contamination, allowing authorities to close in on his sinister operation using Geiger counters-turning his perfect revenge into a race against time.

There is an excellent tune by Roky Erickson of the same name. He recites some of the lines from the movie about Buchanan and district attorney McGraw. I am very familiar with the song, being a favorite but I never knew it was from this movie. Check it out. In fact it's from an album of his called " the Creature with the Atom Brain " in fact I'd say the song is more famous than the movie at this point.

Columbia pictures was not known for making horror and science fiction movies, but, in the middle and late 1950s, they released many of those movies. Science fiction and horror movies were very popular at the time . Their films were entertaining and fun such as this one .
