Thanks for checking out our Credence Clearwater Revival reaction. We listened to Born On The Bayou during our Southern Rock live stream. A lot of people were saying it didn't fit the genre, but it won the poll so who knows.

I was born on a cotton farm in rural Louisiana that was on the bayou Macon in the swampers community in 1953 and it was great I didn't know we were poor until the fourth grade we grew everything that we eat from chickens, pigs, cows and a huge garden I wouldn't change anything about my upbringing

Good raising and getting brought up in the country will be the best thing to happen to a person. City life makes people crazy. Simple life and good upbringing will change this country for the very best. No division just unity. Clearly 1 of the many broken promises this administration has made. Just pure evil! I'm a hard working man that just gets by. Its embarrassing but I had NO privileges growing up. I'm white and straight and Male.. but I grew up in poverty and I don't do well but I do the best I can with what I have. It makes me so made the race division we have going on when they're isn't systemic racism. Just racism period. And only maybe 10 percent of them are actually racist. But anyway I grew up in the south Arkansas north Texas and I've been in the hood half my life went to school with blacks only except 3 whites in a school with 1,200 blacks so I know the hood better than most black people do. And I'm white and conservative. But I always have respect for all my brothers black white Hispanic no matter what race I just know in my heart that I acknowledge we're different colors. I see color but it doesn't matter cause it's just skin I mean damn your black I'm white..? So what? We're all brothers in God's eye's and hes the only true judge in this universe. So what people think doesn't matter 2 shots. But brad and lex you are the only reactors I watch. Mainly cause lex and the way we click with different genres of music the feelings we get without even knowing what's being said. But you have my respect to B-rad 100% yall rock!! And try black sabbath nation acrobat. Brad will fall in live with the lyrics

Always loved CCR. They just knew how to make a simple but very catchy song. They had great riffs, rhythm, and hooks. They were just CCR. You know it is a CCR song when you hear it. This one has a great and driving beat that keeps my foot tapping. When I hear so many of their songs I feel like a need to be on a river for it to make perfect sense.

They all each played instruments well, and fit like a glove, together. Doug on drums could wail. And Stu on Bass had some amazing riffs! John and Tom blended so well, the innate timing of brothers.

Not only did John win, he then turned around & sued Fantasy Records, ultimately getting a ruling that removed the "no risk" incentives plaintiffs like Fantasy had for filing such suits. Since John would have had to pay Fantasy’s attorneys fees if they'd won, he demanded they pay his 1.9 million attorney fees. They refused, so he sued. The courts initially ruled against him, saying he could only get fees if he proved the Fantasy suit was frivolous or in bad faith. He appealed all the way to the US Supreme Court. Fogerty vs Fantasy, March 1994, ruled 9-0 in his favor, saying the playing field needed to be level in awarding fees to a prevailing party.

In March, 1969, one could walk up to the booth at Fillmore West and buy a ticket to see CCR hours before they went on stage. Their second album, "Bayou Country" was just breaking nationally. By the end of the year, tickets for every show sold out from BASS and TicketMaster in less than 30 minutes. That's how big they became and how quickly. Hearing this live at the aforementioned concert in March was like a giant gut punch. EPIC!

I remember John Fogerty explaining the origins of this song on VH1 Storytellers. I don't remember it verbatim, but CCR was the lowest band on a multi-band bill, and as such didn't get the luxury of an early, extended soundcheck like the bigger bands did. They literally had maybe a few minutes and then it was showtime. During CCR's truncated "soundcheck", John started playing Born on the Bayou, which he had just started writing but had no words to yet. The band kicked in behind him, and John just started kind of howling out the vocal melody. A stagehand, with a disgusted look on his face, cut the power and told them that CCR wasn't gonna amount to anything sounding as they did. John Fogerty said, "I turned to him and looked him square in the eye. I pointed my finger right at him and said, 'You give me ONE YEAR, and we'll see who's right.'" Well, a year later CCR was on top of the world and for the life of me, I can't find the name of who that stagehand was. On an unrelated note, I remember giving a high school girlfriend of mine a CCR cd to check out, and a day later she gave it back to me, saying, "Ugh! I can't stand that guy's voice!" I remember looking at her as if she was from another galaxy far, far away....and needless to say, we didn't last very long!!

Brad always seems so unmoved by the music. I'm often wondering if it's just not his genre, he's not a music guy or he's just generally stoic. I NEED to know this. :)

@Ned Martin...I've given Brad "light" crap about his non responsiveness (Is that a word). Why have a music reaction channel if you aren't going to REACT??? Don't have to love the songs as much as we do, but love it or hate it, give us something!! 🎶🎵

This song was used as the closing credits for the action film, Hard Target with Jean-Claude Van Damme from 1993. The movie was set in New Orleans.

i wish the young people could hear this music...and understand the weight of the song...it is not just ''fluff'' to make money...Brad&Lex you two are offering a first listen & reaction to an era that may never repeat...a chance for young listeners or 1st timers to share and enjoy such excellent music...keep up the good work...i'll listen for life..cheers & happy new year

I heard a lot of CCR when I was a kid in the 70s from my parents and aunts and uncles and I was shocked when I learned CCR was from northern California! I always assumed they were from the swamps of Louisiana! LOL They sounded so swampy and funky
