Frontman, Scott Stapp said he had a nightmare that he died and went to hell. He then woke up and wrote this song as a result. Theologically, the lyrics are pretty much spot on imho.

Creed’s 1st 2 Albums are Absolutely Amazing. They Crushed it. Then the wheels fell off after the 3rd Album. When this Album came out they were touring in 300 standing room only small clubs. When the Tour ended , they were selling out 20,000 seat Arena’s 2 nights in a Row in each City. Blew up Fast. Faded away 4 years later

Creed was one of the last imo modern actual rock bands to reach the level of fame that they had. They played major stadiums IN THE US, they won a grammy, they were played on Top 5, Top 10 lists on KISS FM and other major pop radio stations. Their success was real. What did Creed in was tragic now that we know everything. At the time, it appeared like Scott was just another junkie rock star who showed up to shows drunk or on drugs. Their bassist Brian Marshall and Scott also had a falling out and he didnt appear on their third album. But more than that it was Scott's frequent up and down stage performances. Once he even passed out on stage. So they broke up in 2003. Scott did his two solo albums and Mark, Scott and Brian all formed Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy. Then Creed reformed in 2009 and had one last album and tour. It was massively popular. But as a fan who saw them on that tour Scott's voice was SHOT TO HELL. Too much drinking. Which was a shame because by then Mark had reached the level of playing he has with Alter Bridge and started to even add solos to various Creed songs. It was great but that was in spite of Scott's blown out voice. Then it came out that the guys rarely ever hungout on tour and Scott pretty much kept to himself and treated them like hired guns rather than bandmates. So Creed never reformed again after that. THEN in 2016 reports came on the news that "former Creed frontman Scott Stapp releases chilling video saying that the government is after him and that hes left his family and living in his car." Well his wife eventually found him and he got help. Then after they were interviewed and he finally admitted that in getting help he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and that all of the drinking he had done at the end of Creed's rise to fame was to self medicate and that when he had released those videos saying that disturbing stuff it was him having a break with reality. And so Scott is better now but who knows if Creed will ever tour again. And that dear listeners is the story of Creed.

The moral of the story is, God spared him. Cause, he should've seen dead on a Sunday morning banging his head. But he's been saved. Time to get busy. No time for morning his past. He realized his vanity. God reminded his son or daughter. God is our father. He wants the best for his children. He wants us to learn. God never wants to lose his children. He will fight for us all.

The downfall of Creed, and when people turned against them, is when Scott fell into alcoholism. There were some angry fans at concerts where he was too drunk to perform and there was a TV show where he was sloppy drunk. Because they were so clearly a Christian band, his behavior turned a lot of people off of them.
@kellyzak2375 Жыл бұрын

Creed never deserved the hate they get, everybody seems to forget how huge they got. We were all fans and they had tons of killer music. When they came out it was such a breath of fresh air amidst the bleakness of late 90's metal. (sorry, nu sucked!) One song ruined them. To me this song has always reflected being in deep turmoil and self conflict, which is why we all identify with it. Going to go listen to some old Creed now. 🖤🤘
