Axl Rose wrote the song over course of 8 years. It was worth the wait. This is a power ballad, so there are many heavy metal songs from them as you will find out. This was the 1st song of the 20th century, that hit 1 Billion streams online in later years. The video was also the most expensive video ever made at the time. So you are being introduced to one heck of a song for a 1st GNR song. LOTS of others. This was off their 3rd album (double album). I'd recommend their debut hit next "Welcome To the Jungle".

I've been watching your videos for a while now, but this reaction was the one that made me subscribe. I'm watching this on Sunday November 3rd. My Late wife's Birthday.. Ten years ago we lost her to Cancer. Of course I know this song and video. I saw it growing up as a kid. Later on it haunted me. Watching you watch this I lived the whole thing again. Meeting her, courting her. marrying her loving her for the not quite twelve years we had. Then the pain, the fear. her death. The grief and the loss. All of it relived in less then ten minutes. Ever since Jodi's passing, I could never cry for her without some music around. That grief, still so heavy, I can never release it without help. This is one of those songs that helps me do that and you just happened to post it so I saw it on her Birthday. I could remember, cry a little while and see all of it again, so vividly. I feel like it ought to be raining, but the sun's shining brightly here. It's life, it's death. We can't change it, all we can do is remember. It hurts, but that's because it was the real deal, the one, the only. And the strange thing is we both loved taking walks in the cold November rain. I'm walking for both of us now, and thanks for bringing it back for me today. My own little memorial to help me process once again what can never truly be processed. It hurts, but it helps. It lowers the pressure, lets some of it out. Why I appreciate the music so much. Great reaction.

Good reaction, Stacey. But just to explain the video, it was actually the 2nd part of a 3-part song/video series by GnR. Anyway, the story is, that Axl Rose's character had a fiancè, but he cheated on her and she ended up taking her own life with a gun. The entire wedding scene is him dreaming of himself and his then-alive fiancè actually getting married. But that wedding ceremony never actually took place. What actually took place at the church was her funeral rites. Also regarding the fiancè's casket, that mirror in there is next to her face since she took her own life. That practice (with the mirror in the casket) is an old Catholic custom, if I'm not mistaken. I'm Catholic, but I only vaguely recall that, so I'm not 100% certain. Also, hinted at in the music video is the fact that friends are there for you during the happy times, as symbolized by the packed wedding and wedding reception. But 'friends' are not there for you during the hard times, as symbolized by the sparsely-attended funeral service.

In the late 1980s, Slash and Stephanie's paths crossed in the midst of the rock world’s chaos. Slash was shining as the lead guitarist of Guns N' Roses, while Stephanie was at the top of the fashion world, making headlines with her turbulent relationship with Axl Rose. It all began during the filming of the November Rain music video. When Slash was performing his iconic solo scene in a desert-like setting, he caught a glimpse of Stephanie in her wedding dress. As he looked over at her with a warm smile in the wedding scene, an invisible connection formed between them, as if they had just truly discovered one another beyond the scene itself. Throughout the shoot, their conversations deepened. Slash's passion for music and Stephanie’s elegance created a hidden bond that Axl wasn’t aware of. Slash could see the vulnerability in Stephanie, a quiet sadness beneath her glamorous exterior. Stephanie, in turn, saw beyond Slash's rock-star persona and sensed a fragile spirit within him. Both were alone in their own worlds, but together, even if only briefly, the shadows seemed to lift. One evening after filming, they met at a quiet bar. As the November rain poured down the windows, they talked for hours about guitars, life, and memories. Slash played Stephanie a melody that had been haunting him, and they both knew they’d never forget this night. But they also understood that their special connection could never overshadow Stephanie’s commitment to Axl. In the days that followed, Slash and Stephanie remained as memories in each other’s lives. Slash wove the melody he’d played for her into one of his later songs. Stephanie, meanwhile, held on to the memory of Slash, carrying their brief, unforgettable moments in a secret corner of her heart. And every time the November rain fell, they both remembered that night-a fleeting but true friendship, hidden yet cherished.

Almost thirty years later, I hear it, and it's still, to me, one of the best things that ever happened to the 90's. Oh, and who cares HOW she dies? What matters is that their story was doomed. G'n'R ballads have amazing lyrics, grew up with them, but over the years I started to actually listening to the lyrics, they are amazing, as a non English speaking person, I normally listen to the rythem and mood in a song first, I Hear lyrics, but not as a story, that's why I love when they had music video's in the 90 and 00's that show that the lyrics are important

the trilogy is "don't cry, november rain and estranged" the 3 were written in the 80s and only recorded for the albums "use your illusion 1 & 2" in 90' based on the horror tale "whitout you" in the language of fear by Del James

One of my top 10 songs of all time of any genre, and Slash is the best guitarrist along with David Gilmour and Zack Wilde

Hey Stacey! “November Rain” by Guns N' Roses is a great choice! I have to admit that Axl can be a bit controversial at times, but they produced some amazing records throughout their career. This song is from the album "Use Your Illusion I," which was written by Axl Rose. It’s one of their most iconic tracks, known for its emotional depth and grand production. I also love their first album, "Appetite for Destruction." It's a classic, and Slash’s guitar playing is always incredible, just like in this song from 1992. The music video, which feels almost like a short film, was directed by Andy Morahan and features Axl Rose's then-girlfriend, Stephanie Seymour. Thanks again for another great reaction! I can’t wait for the next surprise! Keep it up!

I bought this on cassette the day it was released to have in my car. I used to buy CDs back then but I only had a cassette player in my first car. I was 19. On the very same day I bought Rolling Stones sticky fingers on CD. That album was 20 years old at the time. Kind of weird to know that I got acquainted with both use your illusion 1 and sticky fingers on the very same day that autumn evening 1991. Both albums are classics to me today.

This song has two special memories for me. One good and one bad.. The first was at a concert in 1992 with Guns n' Roses where I met a nice girl who sat on my shoulders at the front of the audience.. We had a relationship in our teenage years after that. The bad memory was when this song was played at a funeral.. The song is so long, so people started screwing up after the interlude when the up tempo came.

My thoughts on this masterpiece song is that it tells the story of falling in love and the eventual ending of that once beautiful love. It speaks to me that way as I was married to what I thought was my soulmate and the most beautiful woman in the world on a bright and sunny November day …. We had my storybook life of a marriage filled with love , happiness and laughter as we brought our two children into the world together. But like this song says ,” Nothing last forever “ and after ten years our love “ died” and we were divorced on a cool , cloudy and rainy November day that left me in tears as I walked out of the courthouse in that cold November Rain as my world as I knew it was over then. So in this song / video the sunny wedding day is a metaphor for the couple falling in love and being in love … while then the darkness comes over and the cold November Rain starts to fall and her death is really just a metaphor for their relationship and love dying and the funeral is showing him now having to go on with his life alone. I feel this song could have been written about my life and how it happened…. “ nothing last forever, even a cold November Rain” 🌧️ ☔️❤️💖❤️🩹💔💙🖤😢
