This is one of the first music videos I worked on in the art dept. Nigel Dick directed it and I was a huge fan of his work. Axel was dating the model in it Stephanie Seymour and she was so nice when we put her in the coffin and dressed it. We didn't see anyone else in the band until it came time to roll cameras. They were so huge at that point they avoided the crew through the whole shoot. Good times though got free tix to their next show in LA.

Axl Rose wrote the song over course of 8 years. It was worth the wait. This is a power ballad, so there are many heavy metal songs from them as you will find out. This was the 1st song of the 20th century, that hit 1 Billion streams online in later years. The video was also the most expensive video ever made at the time. So you are being introduced to one heck of a song for a 1st GNR song. LOTS of others. This was off their 3rd album (double album). I'd recommend their debut hit next "Welcome To the Jungle".

I've been watching your videos for a while now, but this reaction was the one that made me subscribe. I'm watching this on Sunday November 3rd. My Late wife's Birthday.. Ten years ago we lost her to Cancer. Of course I know this song and video. I saw it growing up as a kid. Later on it haunted me. Watching you watch this I lived the whole thing again. Meeting her, courting her. marrying her loving her for the not quite twelve years we had. Then the pain, the fear. her death. The grief and the loss. All of it relived in less then ten minutes. Ever since Jodi's passing, I could never cry for her without some music around. That grief, still so heavy, I can never release it without help. This is one of those songs that helps me do that and you just happened to post it so I saw it on her Birthday. I could remember, cry a little while and see all of it again, so vividly. I feel like it ought to be raining, but the sun's shining brightly here. It's life, it's death. We can't change it, all we can do is remember. It hurts, but that's because it was the real deal, the one, the only. And the strange thing is we both loved taking walks in the cold November rain. I'm walking for both of us now, and thanks for bringing it back for me today. My own little memorial to help me process once again what can never truly be processed. It hurts, but it helps. It lowers the pressure, lets some of it out. Why I appreciate the music so much. Great reaction.

This song was my favourite 92/93 when it came out. In 1994 I fell into a terrible ptsd/depression, and at the time we were forced to keep a diary in college. In the November section of 1994 I wrote “so never mind the darkness you still can find a way, nothing lasts forever even cold November rain”. It turned out to be true…but I still have that diary and look at the page often 30 years on.

Without You Del's short story Without You is credited by hard rock band Guns N' Roses as the inspiration for the song November Rain and its music video. Most of the plot is told in the form of flashbacks. Mayne Mann, aged 28, is a top-selling rock musician. But the suicide of his girlfriend Elizabeth has left him depressive and questioning the meaning behind everything. Although Elizabeth had been the love of Mayne's life, his frequent infidelity had brought about the end of their relationship. The last straw was when after Mayne's final concert with his previous band, Elizabeth had walked in on a threesome between him and two groupies. In the aftermath, during one of their last dates, Elizabeth had told him, "I can't live with you and I can't live without you." Her words had inspired him to write the ballad Without You, which portrays his view on their breakup and has become a top hit. When his new band went on tour and performed in Elizabeth's hometown L.A., he had sent her backstage passes. When she did not show up, Mayne had been determined not to repeat his past mistake, had skipped the after party and gone straight to her home. As Mayne was on his way up to her apartment, Elizabeth had shot herself in the head, with Without You playing on an endless loop in the background. In a rush, Mayne had taken the revolver from her dead hand and tried to shoot himself, but there had been no more bullets left. Life in the fast lane has taken his toll on Mayne: he has hearing issues, is a heavy drinker and drug consumer and, presumably as a result of his girlfriend's suicide, on various kinds of medication. He avoids things that bring back memories of Elizabeth, such as the mansion in which they had spent most of their time, or radio stations that might play Without You. The story begins as Mayne, after a night of heavy drinking and drug consumption, awakes from a recurring nightmare in which he relives Elizabeth's suicide. Still hung over from the previous night, he starts the day with a beer and eventually spends the whole morning with alcohol, drugs and memories of Elizabeth. In a fit of rage he begins to smash the furniture in his apartment and even most of his collection of vintage guitars, suddenly seeing them as the gateway to his fame and his misery. He briefly considers shooting himself but then changes his mind and starts to play, first on his favorite and last remaining guitar, then on the piano. In the meantime, a burning cigarette which has fallen off the edge of a table has set the apartment on fire. Yet Mayne ignores it and continues to play until he dies in the flames.

@fidel2xl3 ай бұрын
Good reaction, Stacey. But just to explain the video, it was actually the 2nd part of a 3-part song/video series by GnR. Anyway, the story is, that Axl Rose's character had a fiancè, but he cheated on her and she ended up taking her own life with a gun. The entire wedding scene is him dreaming of himself and his then-alive fiancè actually getting married. But that wedding ceremony never actually took place. What actually took place at the church was her funeral rites. Also regarding the fiancè's casket, that mirror in there is next to her face since she took her own life. That practice (with the mirror in the casket) is an old Catholic custom, if I'm not mistaken. I'm Catholic, but I only vaguely recall that, so I'm not 100% certain. Also, hinted at in the music video is the fact that friends are there for you during the happy times, as symbolized by the packed wedding and wedding reception. But 'friends' are not there for you during the hard times, as symbolized by the sparsely-attended funeral service.

This song has two special memories for me. One good and one bad.. The first was at a concert in 1992 with Guns n' Roses where I met a nice girl who sat on my shoulders at the front of the audience.. We had a relationship in our teenage years after that. The bad memory was when this song was played at a funeral.. The song is so long, so people started screwing up after the interlude when the up tempo came.

First time i had heartache in the 80‘s, it helped me through this situation, the later cords then bought me to the base 🤗👊❤️

The man in the top hat is Slash and you were laughing about the church scene. When GNR won their first music award the whole band showed up drunk (at least) and Slash did not disappoint (nor the rest for that matter) to make quite a spectacle when accepting their award.

This is the first and third part of the story... Second part is in "Don't Cry" and the last part is in "Estranged". The "wife" in this video was the real life girl friend of the lead singer at the time... This song was the baby of the vocalist Axl Rose. He worked on this song for about a decade before it was ready to be put on an album... It is truly a masterpiece.

The lead singer is Axle Rose. The dude in the tophat with cigg and the pooffy hair is Slash, the lead guitarist. He is one of my favorite guitarists! I HIGHLY suggest and request Knockin On Heaven's Door.

My thoughts on this masterpiece song is that it tells the story of falling in love and the eventual ending of that once beautiful love. It speaks to me that way as I was married to what I thought was my soulmate and the most beautiful woman in the world on a bright and sunny November day …. We had my storybook life of a marriage filled with love , happiness and laughter as we brought our two children into the world together. But like this song says ,” Nothing last forever “ and after ten years our love “ died” and we were divorced on a cool , cloudy and rainy November day that left me in tears as I walked out of the courthouse in that cold November Rain as my world as I knew it was over then. So in this song / video the sunny wedding day is a metaphor for the couple falling in love and being in love … while then the darkness comes over and the cold November Rain starts to fall and her death is really just a metaphor for their relationship and love dying and the funeral is showing him now having to go on with his life alone. I feel this song could have been written about my life and how it happened…. “ nothing last forever, even a cold November Rain” 🌧️ ☔️❤️💖❤️🩹💔💙🖤😢

Axle Rose is without a doubt one of the most Iconic frontmen in Rock history, he's not the easiest guy to get along with " leading to a 20 year break up of Guns N Roses", they reunited about 3 years ago. and Slash Is a guitar God He in the time after the break up was a part of Velvet Revolver Slash's Snakepit, and a self titled group Slash other members of the bend in this song are Izzy Stradlin "rhythm guitar Matt Sorum drums and Duff McKagen Bass

I was like 12 or 13 when I first heard that song and saw that legendary MV. I remember a cousin of mine, who was already in high school, pointing at the TV and telling me: THAT is rock'n'roll. Thus began my passion for that register. With the Guns N' Roses. More specifically with the LAST part of November Rain. Almost thirty years later, I hear it, and it's still, to me, one of the best things that ever happened to the 90's. Oh, and who cares HOW she dies? What matters is that their story was doomed. Sure, narratively, it's a little bit abrupt, but visually, it works.

In the story, he cheated on her repeatedly and tried to make amends but she's broken and she shoots herself in front of him. In the video, the wedding is a dream and only the funeral is real. He wakes up at the end because the dream turned into reality.

November Rain… the greatest song, total package considered, of the 80’s. Great lyrics, not one not two but three Slash solos, awesome video… and Stephanie Seymour. Literally the best.

if you look up Rock n Roll in the dictionary you see a picture of Slash wailing on the guitar with the wind in his hair standing in front of a church...EPIC...GnR Use your Illusion 1 & 2 and Metallica the Black album were the first CD's I ever bought when I was 10 years old...I'll never forget it...Music just ain't the same anymore...So excited for you to see more of them
