"They" that hated him and prevented him from going forward and being as successful as they should've been is the industry. They did not nor ever will want any kind of messages of good and "God" other than the god they worship to be put out into the public. Some people haven't figured it all out yet but they only allow people/bands to put out entertainment that will pertain to worshiping their "God" and their god is no god at all...just the opposite...js. Creed and Nickelback are both talented bands and made good music. They get hit because they were overplayed and people got tired of them. It happens, but the music itself will hold up over time. 10-20 years from now new fans will find them and they will be liked by a whole new generation.

It's not right that Creed was hated so badly - I feel that the band was sabotaged because they wouldn't sing about satan, only God. Even looking at this music video, it seems to me the record company is intentionally forcing the band to be in a video that looks ridiculous and is not the right vehicle for the song. No they were never a Christian band, they were a rock band! The lead singer Scott Stapp is a Christian! Read his book Sinner's Creed, the book was to be a journal about his life that he had to write in therapy, he had to write My name is Anthony Scott Flippen Stapp I was born and.....he was to write about his childhood till present to help him through his addiction, depression and childhood trauma! Talking about his upbringing, how Creed formed, how the band broke up and so on! Scott wrote the lyrics for their music and he wrote about his struggles with his beliefs and conflicts and question about what it all meant in his life! His family was abandoned by his father at 5, Steven Stapp stepped into his life, married his Mom, he was a dentist and Scott and his Step dad had sports and regilion in common but Steven Stapp was very stern and strict, he said he was the prophet in their house and if Scott angered him, then he angered God! Scott had one father that left and he wanted to please his new father! Steven didn't give Scott any wiggle room for any kind of faults from regilion, school what he excepted from him, his Step dad used God as a reason to punish him, beat him and his sister's! He'd go to church and see that God was to be loving and forgiving, his grandfather taught Scott of a loving God but Steven used God as a reason to be abusive! Scott is now in recovery, he has no relationship with his Step dad and has been in recovery for awhile now! When you listen to the lyrics and you've read his book, you understand why he writes the lyrics he writes about struggles and conflicts about his own experiences and there's always something more in that struggle or conflicts, someone good who will be there, show you the light! Regilous or not those lyrics resonated with so many! I recommend My Own Prison, Higher, One Last Breath, One, Bullets, Arms Wide Open, Say I, What If,What This Life For! There's more but Scott still delivers voice and emotion when he sings today! I hope you react to more Creed song, there a great band, they were a rock band with a message!

I don't know why anyone would hate on Creed. Creed is one of those acts punished for it's success. They've sold 40 million or so albums, but no one will admit to buying one--even though they also dominated radio and video for a few years. Part of that is the vaguely Christian nature of the music and part is due to Scott Stapp's personal problems and conservatism, which is disdained by many in the popular media. All of those issues are irrelevant to enjoying the music, but people allow such things to persuade them to at least outwardly disavow the music. Oh, and the video is based on a dream the singer had, hence the flood, monks, etc., as he looked back from old age. I think he was going for a Moses reference, but I could be wrong.
