Church is supposed to be family.

A friend and I were talking about the term idolizing. There's is more than one meaning to this term. Idolizing can mean to love greatly, admire, look up to, worship etc. We're not to worship anything or anyone outside of God. For example, I like to listen to Pastor Gino Jennings but at the same time I have the right to have a hobby and entertain myself. With that being said, I am a Michael Jackson and Prince fan. Is this wrong? Absolutely not, no one can tell me who I can or cannot love. They are people too and I love and miss them both.

Amen, idolizing any man needs to broken, celebrities included. The bible speaks that we should flee from idolatry and that no idolator shall inherit the Kingdom of God. Knowledge is power and reading the bible instead of relying on some wolf to teach it to you is a good start.

J Day I disagree with everyone is supposed to be apart of the service and not a spectator. That isn't the order we see in the bible. The formal gathering is supposed to be for teaching and learning, it is supposed to have order. But we have turned church into something it wasn't meant to be. We're supposed to loving out life with each other day in and day out, there is supposed to be a system that is set up to care for the general needs of the people, we are supposed to judge and rule on matters in the church. The general assembly wants to leave the health of the church to a pastor or a single person, only wanting to come and listen.
@RoseSharon7777
@RoseSharon7777 7 жыл бұрын
A. Smith Of course there can only be one pastor during a service. But Paul never said that only ONE Pastor can preach in a church congregation forever as its only psstor. the following weeks should be given to others in the BODY to use their gifts as well. Many are called to preach in a body but never get the chance plus it helps keep false doctrine out of the BODY when everyone can study and preach teach evangelize. There should always be order but Paul clearly wanted participation from the BODY, not a clique of highly favored friends to be elders, and family to hold high postions. Its all about the BODY not individuals. the religious harlots have destroyed the church and need to come down, and they will very soon. they are corrupt, and out of line with what Paul taught and what Jesus expected. The first century church is our example. After a congregation got too big to meet in a certain home, another congregation was started. It was NEVER meant to be in a huge building where funds were needed for all sorts of BS to keep it running and maintained and using all the money to pay bills instead of going to funds to help the needy among them. Sorry, I disagree with you.

Home churches...they all had love and helped one another. Their is order but pastors teachers and all the gifts mentioned are all of us bringing our gifts to the group with a prophetic word, teaching, preaching, evangelism, gift of healing, hospitality, mercy, administration, etc. It takes a community body to minister to one another. Deaconess/Deacons and elders would still do their jobs and each home church could also come together with other small groups like they do in a church building but instead they use the money to help each other and grow into new home churches and grow as a body. All would minister and be ministered to and grow daily with love for one another and accountability.

This is exactly what I just wrote down in my note book. I lost my job because I had an 7year old charge on my background. Once I became born again I started working at my church after 5 weeks my fingerprint came back from a misdemeanor charge and they let me go. The whole entire church know about it gossip about but no one approached me to offer me to work at any of there companies..meanwhile I am the topic of all they conversations. No love no unity. Only jealousy envy and discord. I also have a prophetic gift and I continue to walk in the anointing of the holy spirit. I'm currently writing my 2nd book and I open up about how the church is acting more like the world everyday.

On the contrary, I believe most mega church pastors would agree with every word Francis said here, and they're desperately trying to create more community and a sense of family in their churches. What does go a long way toward breaking down a sense of family within the Body of Christ, however, is this 'us vs them' idea that many involved in smaller and more traditional churches have against larger churches. The stereotypes and false ideas that are spread large/mega churches are mostly false, and driven by a very select few who do abuse their influence and power. Honestly, it's dangerous, and I believe the work of the enemy against the Church.

gh1Mikie gh1Mikie Francis has made few remarkable comments on why he did as below(1-5), but there’re things that he may really need to consider about other matters(A-D) too, which I respond. 1. Finance and cost for the ministry 2. Lack of use of gift/commitment 3. Lack of discipleship 4. Lack of love 5. Lack of genuine response A. True for finance and cost to build mega church. B. His statement of 5k people look at him alone/witness his gift, with assumption of those people who come to church and run big business in circular worlds are not performing and using their gift to draw more people to the kingdom of God? Hmm... kinda misstated. I think, I think, those who go to church on Sunday, are not performing their gifts and use it to draw for harvest, due to lack of discipleship & heart of reaching out; the small groups may not grow to million as he said lack/without discipleship & heart of reaching out, he’ll still face the issue some day. C. The way he does is with setting up Home Church with cell groups size, it is what a usual ought to have, have cellgroups and cellgroup leaders and the group form family based groups among the church, still have the same effect that he does. Simply based on the things that may seem incomplete/shortfall, that draws him out? Hmm.. There is something that he may miss out, the advantage of having sizeable church could have extraordinary gift/expertise to benefit the whole church, is every cellgroup gonna have well-trained pastor and counsellor to help up in Home church? D. Because of not having (C) and (3) which highly likely to cause (4) and then resulted to (5). I think the main issues Francis may need to consider discipleship and love; lacking of these two, with/without the way he does, still will face (2-5); with those, (1-5) aren’t problem at the first place.

Historians agree that the gospels (written in Greek, by unknown authors, from 70 to 140CE) portray Jesus as famous far and wide, a prophet and healer, with great multitudes of people who knew about him, including the greatest Jewish high priests and the Roman authorities of the area, and not one person records his existence during his lifetime? If the poor, the rich, the rulers, the highest priests, and the scribes knew about Jesus, who would not have heard of him? Amazingly, we have not one Jewish, Greek, or Roman writer, even those who lived in the Middle East, much less anywhere else on the earth, whoever mention him during his supposed life time. This appears quite extraordinary, and you will find few Christian apologists who dare mention this embarrassing fact. All myth! Seek the truth!

After some years, I eventually went back to a church regularly and decided to commit myself to God and to serve others in the church. Francis Chan used to visit Shiloh in ,Oakland ,when I went there. Even though there was so much hype around him particularly , because to the church he was a success because of his mega church you know in America the bigger the better the more successful , however, even back then, in the 90’s, I saw a true humility upon him , he really had Christ and I could tell he was standing with God and kinda like was just standing back and watching his life. I’m not surprised he backed out of the mega church american christian success movement. I am happy to see his life still glorifying God and being used to bring the church into her incredible destiny upon the earth. What a great time to be alive! Thank you Francis for not giving into the fear of man !

"It's like being adopted rather than being in an orphanage....." YES! This is what I've been unable to articulate. Such a powerful revaluation and word of truth! Matthew 9:35-38 35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages. He taught in their synagogues. He preached the good news of the kingdom. And he healed every illness and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he felt deep concern for them. They were treated badly and were helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “The harvest is huge. But there are only a few workers. 38 So ask the Lord of the harvest to send workers out into his harvest field.”

I have been needing a church like this for years! I could almost say I'm craving this exact thing. I keep saying that as Christians we're suppose to do life together. It's all about relationships and being there for one another but at my current church (it's about 600 ppl), I get greeted and I have a couple family members that talk to me but really I don't have that family environment that I so badly want and need in my life. Even my friends that I hang out with outside church don't really give me the time to chat when we're there. My husband and I are looking to start going to a new church in the hopes of getting better connected because we can't keep going on the path we're on. I am starving for a Christian family closeness that I've never had before and I'm hoping I find it soon.

growing up a lot of my friends were into the Biker culture. I became a Christian about 20 years ago and have generally avoided old music or dodgy movies I used to enjoy but I got into the habbit of watching a lot of TV series just as an escape from dealing with hard issues. I ended up watching a lot of Sons of Anarchy (which isn't wholesome Godly viewing at all) I felt like God really showed me something through it, that you don't need a huge group of Believers around you. you just need a core group of believers that you can really trust and work together with. Theres so many parallels with the Gospel stories and the way the guys stand together and fight together in that fictional show. ps I think it was about the last season I ended up giving up when it got really ridiculous, every one in their families are turning on each other, a few scenes I wish I never saw. (I would skip over a lot of the bad stuff too) I thought it was strange how it made we want to find a group of real Christian brothers and depend on each other. nope still haven't got anyone really. Hope more Christians get what F.Chan is saying so we aren't all isolated as Christians. God Bless!

I was the Audio company hired for 3 days for live sound but I don't know if anyone remembers me but I do know that Francis did a great job giving an evangelistic message after Michael's testimony. It was so dynamic and after seeing this video here, I remember as to what makes Francis very effective as a minister. Seeing this video, I finally see a pastor willing to see outside the box as to how churches are operating in general especially large ministries but not really growing their people to learn to exercise their God-given gifts and just keeping the seats warm. I learned a lot here and thanks Francis for that message. It helps me focus on what is really important under God and his message through His Word.

All my family or friends would call me when they were down and out over the years, but would never pick up their Bible and read what the Spirit of GOD was telling them. That is how I finally got at least my friend to start studying for herself the scriptures. Now we are talking about having home study. Listening to your Sermons for the past week have been Spiritually eye opening for me. Thank you for your faithfulness and truthfulness in Christ Jesus. I must say it's not so much about the size of the Church, because in Acts we read that God added to the Church 3000 in one day, and then daily the Lord added to the Church. That is not a small church. They may start small, but shouldn't necessarily have to remain small. Mega Churches are not necessarily bad. Let's just work to making it as Christ intended... a Family.

@@mariefloyd6174 Tithes and offerings go to two places: one is to those who are extending the Kingdom into truly unreached areas. This would be missionaries going to UUPG's in different parts of the world. This is supporting those with apostolic giftings to reach new people with the Gospel who have never heard it before. (For example, Paul in the NT, going to various places and raising support, even though he was actually bivocational). The other place is giving to the poor. God had a lot to say in the OT (like in Amos and Isaiah) about His people honoring Him with their lips but not with their hearts. Nowhere in the NT is money raised to fix buildings, buy bigger screens, or more instruments. Paul collected tithes to give to other Christians who were in need (like those in Jerusalem). We are still under obligations to give. That is not removed. It's where the giving is going to.

I also was a gang member here in Chicago. I been a Christian for few years now, and I've experienced so much disorder in the church from the pastor all the way down to me, but I also experienced a lot of love from certain people in christ. The church is no different from any thing els here on earth it is also filled with all types of people with all types of problems. it is so easy to say we should be like this and be like that and do it like this and not like that but the truth is that it doesn't work someone always messes up because we are not perfect in the flesh. I believe we must fellowship with each other to build each other up and at the same time exercise our faith in christ by trusting in him and in him only, I believe that jesus saved me when he called me, when he called me I heard him, I heard him because he allowed me to hear him, he reached into my empty life and revealed himself to me with his love,and allowed me to acknowledge and receive him as my lord and savior. Ever since that day I been growing in jesus through the holy spirit who teaches me all things and guides me in all truth, but because of my sin nature or self will or fleshly desires I haven't always submitted my self to the spirit of God, but because of the holy spirit I am always pursuing the will of God in my life, He gives me the strength to continue and persist in my faith every day all the time and gives me the endurance that I need to not give up. I know that jesus will finish the work that he started in me. Everything that I do for the glory of god is by his power the power of the spirit that lives in me. We have been set free we are no longer slaves of sin we have been given the power to do everything that is good and godly things like forgiveness and compassion become part of our new nature along with a love for telling people about our savior jesus.god doesn't want Christians going to church for the sake of complaining and judging he wants Christians going to church expressing these things the fruits of the spirit and his tender love for the sake of others, and for his glory.we will not boast in heaven about anything but his saving love.trust jesus he is the savior. No one can see the kingdom of god unless he is born again, born from above. Do not argue over the little things is what the bible teaches us, if a man considers one day more holy let him that is between him and God do not argue over food and drink but Unite in the gospel, christ crucified buried and resurrected (the word became flesh)

wow that was really beautiful. I never felt like church was family. I've always felt like God was family, Jesus was, but not Church people. I grew up in a holiness Church, where they speak in tongues on a whim. It never felt real. I never had the Holy Spirit come over me and talk in tongues and I felt like a big failure because of it. To this day I still haven't had that but I have been at war with demons. Literal demons, I mean. I let them know that I belong to God and they still show up, and I still run them off in Jesus's Holy Name, but I long for that family feel. My blood family is all gone now but I have a wife and kids whom I love very much but I want us to have a spiritual family.

Brian Michael demons are targeting u because God has a big plan for u. When demons show up tell them their end is finished in the lake of fire in Jesus name. Step out in faith n trust God n go preach the gospel.

I truly believe that's what God wanted to get us back to during the pandemic.. But too many leaders were frustrated that we couldn't come to be building. We need to know how to accomplish it in our churches

God gave me a late life epiphany on church...and now after 5 years beyond the institutional frameworks i am able to fully be the man God made me to be...I have not looked back...I discovered how debilitating institutional religion can be...and how much more God had placed in me.

So true. I'm a Christian that attends many different churches all Christian. People keep telling me I need a church family, I'm not feeling it. The little clicks are like high school. I listen to sermons on tv and I go to church most the time but I feel I don't need to save the saved. I feel I'm suppose to be out in the world letting God use me where ever he sees fit. I don't feel spending all my time with fellow Christians is reaching the masses. I feel it's hiding. I believe I'm chosen to be a front role warrior fighting for souls not a bench warmer.

Well if that's how you feel then maybe God is calling you. If it is something similar to open air preaching then I think that's wonderful and we need tons more people like that. I admire open air preachers. If God tells me to do something like that then I would do it with pleasure.

wow.... i can definitely understand what he's saying. I do think it's a two way street. Being relational is hard sometimes but God calls us to it. wheter you're a part of a church with 3, 30, 350, or 3,000 people, you are not just suppose to go to church, then get in your car and go home. You should get connected and involved in whatever ministry you attend. Be intentional and relational. Also no matter what size, you cannot truly be relational with everyone. You are one person, but you can love everyone you come in contact with inside and outside the church.

I believe leadership has to create opportunities for more intimate fellowship. You usually don't get to know the real person at church.

I am very sad and sorry to say i have never truly experienced the "family love" in church; rather i see so much hypocrisy and, have been hurt and betrayed so many times that i do drag to attend the service sometimes.......i am really praying that the Lord will change and strengthen me not to fear obeying His commandment to fellowship with other believers.... Therefore, it is so refreshing to hear something so honest from a pastor. that IS a pastoral heart!

Same here. I experienced the same. I stepped away for awhile and found Jesus. He helped me understand why people are broken. He showed me things beyond my own imagination of what I thought was impossible. Then I went back to a congregation and boy oh boy do people need Jesus. Maybe we are the few that are meant to guide others and be real with them. Idk in the meantime, I'll pray about it.

Me too Thea. I ended up burning all my bibles and books because of judgmental Christians. I lost it with "Christianity." It's full of judgmental hypocrites who are full of negativity who have nothing good to say about one another, even condemning one another. "Christians" are the main driving force to Atheism, and the #1 reason why the church isn't growing today. I've since been restored and now go to the best church I've ever been to.

jim martel yea I understand. I’m sorry you had to experience that as well. That’s why I never define Jesus by people who are imperfect. It is better to be an example through His love 😊. God bless you! 💙

We are to give people room in the church to help use their gifts for the edifying of the body. He is right. Sitting in the pews are not what it was all about. That's why we need good leaders in the Church calling others to use their gifts, not sitting around.

So many like myself are getting called out of the "church" and are taking it to the streets with the gifts we are given. I get more flack from "churched people" who don't understand what "not forsaking the fellowship" really is. I'm preparing to start a house church ...which will look NOTHING like the present day church. Once you get more than 10 people, you start another house church. Keep it small, intimate, and powerful.
