EASY Going Creek Fishing - HOW I FISH Nikko HELLGRAMMITE

NEW CFA STORE creekfishingad... Once again I am out exploring and driving around Tennessee looking for a place to stop and fish. This place was in north middle TN and was a beautiful location to do some wading. I started out with a swimbait then switched to a Nikko Hellgrammite to fish some of the deeper runs and decided to show how I use it and where I catch fish with it. Clear water helps out catching more fish with this lure. I usually use them on a medium or medium light setup with 10 to 15 lb braid and 8-10 lb mono or flouro leader.

Scooter McScoots they work fine. I don’t find that they get any more bites then the Z-Man TRD. I will stick with those as they are easier to get. Walmart and Dicks sell them.

Beautiful day John. Im going to order some hellgrammites this week end. Ive been lucky with the crickhopper that you fished, its caught crappie, bass, even trout. Try an olive green woolly bugger on a bare 4 lb test with a bobber about 4ft from it. Works well in moderate to slow moving streams.

that place looke very fishable - try throwing a plastic craw too - hope you can do some late summer floats on some big clear water - you have not gotten spooled yet - try some big live bait also - it usually works even for the big fish, think about doing a carp/big catfish show - chum a bunch - overall just keep exploring but have high expectations i.e. do some research but also do some random google map exploring

A lot of people like to fish right below the riffle which can be great but the tail end of the pool right above the riffle especially if there is good depth and good size rocks has produced some really nice bass for me.

Nikko should pay you advertising fees. I bought the hellgrammite based on your vids and have become a fan of their products. They’re similar to the ElaZtech formula with durability and buoyancy. Z-Man doesn’t cater to the panfish market but Nikko has it covered.

Used a Nikko helgermite today for the first time. Went down to the river after supper for a couple of hours. In an area that's heavily fished, I caught 7 smallmouth and 2 bluegills. 2 of the smallmouth were about 14 inches. I'm sold on this lure thanks.

I tried the ned heads and kept getting hung. At almost 8 bucks for a pack of 4 hellgramites thats to expensive for me to keep losing them. I started carolina rigging it and have had great success and a lot less hang ups.

Can’t get over how much this river looks like the Chattahoocie a few miles south of the Buford Dam. Same pebble style banks and downed trees/snags. (Of course that’s where the big fish hang out to break you off...) never caught a smallmouth in 30 years on that northern stretch. Too cold?

Tried a creek near me, definitely not a clear mountain stream or rocky bottom. Just mud and trash, smelled like a septic tank. I gave it 20 minutes, caught nothing, immediately went home to shower.

the ones frm the hills usually drop pretty fast, but we have several in the Tennessee valley that are very different and seem to have more fish

Actually hellgramites to swim in the water. They paddle and flick their tail as they float down stream. So jigging them through the water column is quite effective. They use their tail to swim themselves out of danger. Catch one and release him and watch how he swims through the water
