We have a thing in Michigan that we call “up north” - there’s basically a line that runs across the state east to west that goes roughly through the city of Clare. If you’re south of that it’s mostly water like you’re fishing and warmer-water rivers and streams. There are of course outlier trout streams to be found, but it’s generally true. Mucky or clay bottoms in the lakes generally…. Mostly going to be panfish, bass, and pike in the lakes, unless they stock walleye in them…the rivers will mostly be smallmouth, pike, walleye, carp, and catfish. If you’re north of the line, then you’ll find more rocky bottom waters and cooler-water rivers and streams. You’ll find more lakes with trout in them as you go north. Still going to be largemouth in the lakes, but the smallmouth start to dominate as the lakes get deeper and cooler. Of course you’ll have panfish, pike, and whatnot as well…

There is nothing better then seeing some fish being caught and hearing the joy and excitement in someone's voice when the bite comes on. This is why I continue to watch your channel and I always will. You're an entertainer and a fisherman all in one video, and that makes for outstanding content that you can not take your eyes off of. The green floating cover that looks like a green mat is duckweed. Super common up north. I'm in the Ottawa area up in Ontario, Canada, and we have tons of it. The water where you're at looks a lot like rivers and lakes around here. Quick question about your Old Town. What length is the blue one and also the orange/yellow one that you use? I'm considering switching from my canoe to a kayak and have been shopping around a bit but don't know if I want a 126 or a 106. Edit: LOL! Should have waited until the end to ask about the kayak. I thought the blue one you're using is the 106. I'm guessing the orange one is a 126. Love the videos! Keep up the good work!
@marthamitchell9452

I just got the 106 with the Minnkota motor, but not the spot lock. I really like it although it’s heavier than my old Sun Dolphin 12’ . I’m getting older and the motor will allow me to stay out longer, plus my knees aren’t that great.
@tylerpalmer8973
@tylerpalmer8973 2 жыл бұрын
@@marthamitchell9452, I run a MinnKota on my canoe (sometimes), which is an Old Town 156. Depends on the water I'm fishing. If I'm targeting weed beds, I tend not to set it up and just paddle. The canoe is super stable for stand-up fishing. If the water is more open, I use the trolling motor a lot more.
@CreekFishingAdventures

orange one is 120 and this blew one is 106, The 106 is about 10% less than the 120 in about everything, stability, size, weight. Im 6-4 and am very comfortable on the 106

The hardest part of frog fishing is allowing the fish to swim off before you set the hook. They’ll hold it like a worm- have confidence to let them eat it and you’ll hook up a little more. It takes nerves of steel!
@CatchReleaseRepeat

So true! I always miss the first hookset when I go frogging. He was working it pretty quick too. In my experience that leads to more misses. I like most anything biting in freshwater and like us recovering alcoholics say "when life gives you lemons 🍋 make lemonade ". And you remembered the frog video from Aaron and did just that. That's why a few ponds I fish never get old. Might tangle with a big one or two but plenty of willing solid 1-2 pounders to keep it fun and interesting. John, with frogs slow down and try to get them on the pad then pop it off the pad and you will get the strike. the fish follows the frog from leaf to leaf . All so on lakes throw it on the shore and slowly pop it in the water and let it sit. a bass will see it fly on land and get ready to strike when it hits the water. have fun.

The area I'm in did not flood, but a little farther North many people were flooded and lost everything they had. There are 37 deaths counted so far. Up here in this area everything freezes over in the winter. It's actually like a purification process. You got rid of all the old water and a lot of new water comes in in the winter and spring. Same is true everywhere that water flows but it doesn't freeze in lower elevations and 2 or 3 months out of year in the south. there is so much new life that is so noticeable where not so noticed in warmer climates.

One reason I love watching you is because it's Jesus Christ in this videos, adventure, great fishing. I don't get to go fishing much anymore and it's great getting to enjoy your adventure and fishing 💖
