Gotta be careful with those falls....a buddy of mine just had a fall on a jetty on the Mississippi and knocked himself out and woke up neck deep in the water....luckily he was on the side where current was pushing him into the jetty and not away from it....he ended up with a couple herniated discs and is currently out of work til he can get it fixed

You’re definitely on the right track for catching a big blue. The tips of those wing dams are excellent places. Big blues love current. Cast baits into the current seam trailing off of the tip. We use a method called a “ swing” rod. Cast your bait directly out into the fast water and quickly drop slack to let it hit bottom. The fast current will “swing” your rig along the bottom until it contacts the main channel ledge. Big cats use these ledges as highways. Can’t wait to see the results. Bon Peche🤘🤘

Nick is a true fisherman. After that fall his first worry was whether the fish was still on the line. Lol. Try to be just a little bit safer though. Those falls feel worse the older we get.

Nick. Can I pass on some advice regarding your net for landing the fish. Over here in the Europe we use a specialist large fish landing net designed for fish over 50lb 60lb. Mainly used for our mamount sized carp and european wels catfish. I think you should look into sourcing one for your big fish adventures, just so you don't struggle to land the big cats your targeting.

the effort that you put into your videos is incredible. just huge respect to you for the time and thought you put in every damn time. Coupled with the fact you get like a kid in a sweet shop over every bite is just so wholesome and a joy to watch. That location with the bluffs, deep water and small relatively protected covelets just looks like a fish buster! I bet the fishing will pick up when it gets warmer. My 2 cents. Keep after it!!

If skip jack live in the water you are fishing in, that is the bait to go with. It is worth it to catch some. We call them "catfish candy" here in Tennessee. Hope you reach your goal. Not many have accomplished it.

Hey Nick, how's it goin brotha! Thanks for taking us along on this fishing adventure! That's particularly what I like to do, just go out, find new places, and take a chance to see what I can catch! Super funny bloopers at the end trying to get up the hill, I must say! Lol. Was wondering a couple things also. What major river was that off of where you were fishing, and the one fish that was a short nose gar, almost looked like a baby alligator gar with its snout. Was it one, or was it just like you said I short nose? Had the teeth and everything! Anyway, bro thanks again, thanks for being part of my family for the last 4 years that I've been on disability. It's getting me super motivated to get out there as soon as I can. God bless in everything!

Hey Nick a little hack for your net. I fish some high docks and low bridges so I bought a cheap Walmart net, popped the end cap off and stuck an old paint roller handle that extends up to 10 feet. Drilled a hole through both and secured it with a bolt and wing nut so it is removable. Fully extended I got 15 feet. Love the vids, tight lines.

That fall gave me sympathy pains!!! As far as the Santee Rig, I think you want the floats and rattles a few inches in front of your bait and not right up on the hooks? I'm surprised you've never used skipjack? I'd think you'd be able to catch your own somewhere near you? They aren't on my side of the mountains so I've never used them either lol. If you're truly after big cats, I think looking into the Navionics app might be a big help in finding prime waters. Also a few weeks ago I bought one of the Deeper castable sonars. You can use it on your kayak or cast it out with a heavier rod. I bought a cheap Tiger Spinning combo at Walmart and put thirty pound braid on it just for casting the sonar. You can cast it around the area you're at and it'll create a depth map of the area for you, It'll show bottom structure, all that good stuff! It's a really neat little tool an would really help in finding prime spots to fish. They are tons of videos on youtube, a little pricey, but I think it'll be worth my investment for it.
